Pirates of the Caribbean - Magic Kingdom

New Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Lounge Heading to Magic Kingdom

There were no shortage of announcements at Destination D23 this year. Many of the announcements were focused on the future of Walt Disney World Resort. One of the announcements revolved around a new addition to Magic Kingdom. During  “A Celebration of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” hosted by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro, it was announced that a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.

The new lounge promises to be a “first of its kind” experience. It appears to be bringing back Peg-Leg Pete, who originally greeted guests at the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean at Magic Kingdom. Currently Imagineers are at work designing the new lounge. Disney has promised that new details will be coming in the future. An exact location has not been announced for this lounge. A timeline for the new lounge in Adventureland has not been announced either. Lastly, it is unknown what will be served at this Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge. A piece of artwork was released for the new tavern.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a fan-favorite attraction. The original attraction opened at Disneyland and it has been replicated with different versions through the years around the globe at different Disney theme parks. The popularity of the attraction led to a franchise of the same name, starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. It is unknown if this new tavern will be connected to this franchise in any way.
