Normally if Disney fans would like to see Disney characters with the Disneyland Band, the way to do it is to watch the Disneyland Band March Along. Generally around the middle of the day, the band is joined by Mickey Mouse and friends in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Then they march together down Main Street, USA before performing in front of Main Street Station. On many days the Dapper Dans also join for the second half of this moment. Recently, the Disneyland Band has been adding some extra magic to its other performances throughout the day. Throughout other performances, a couple of Disney Princesses and a Disney Villain appears to be showing up when their songs are playing. These lovely moments add extra magic to the incredible performances of the Disneyland Band.
Princess Tiana
The first Disney Princess that Daps Magic became aware of showing up when the Disneyland Band played her song was Princess Tiana. She appeared to dance in front of the Golden Horseshoe Saloon as the band played Dig a Little Deeper from The Princess and the Frog. Once her song was over, she moved on as the band continued on with its performance.
Cruella de Vil
Another magical moment with the Disneyland Band was observed ahead of the Magic Happens Parade. During the Disneyland Band’s pre-parade, Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations appeared to dance in front of the band as they made their way into Town Square. The moment happened in front of City Hall. While it hasn’t happened every day, it has appeared to happen somewhat frequently.
Belle
Disney fans watching a Town Square set have been able to see Belle from Beauty and the Beast show up. She appeared as the band plays Be Our Guest. This is similar to something that has happened before when the band played the song in front of the castle. Her song is in the middle of their set and has her dancing around the band and interacting with their choreography.
The addition of these Disney characters throughout the day to the Disneyland Band performances is a wonderful addition to already magical experiences. Fans who can remember back a decade or two in the history of the Disneyland Band will remember that for a very long time, Disney characters would show up for performances of the Disneyland Band. These made for some absolutely magical and memorable moments that enhanced both the band’s performance and brought the characters to life. This was done in a way that wouldn’t be seen in a traditional meet and greet. Sometimes guests were also pulled in to participate which just added to the magic (anybody remember Dancing Daddies with the Mad Hatter? If you don’t, watch the video below).
One of the things that makes Disney different than any other company is the characters in its family, particularly at the park. People grow up watching their stories and singing their songs. Anytime guests get to see them do something like performing with the Disneyland Band bring those stories to life in an added way as they come from the screen to the parks. It brings to life the illusion that the Disney characters do their living and playing at Disneyland and other Disney theme parks and that is a beautiful thing.
The addition of Princess Tiana, Cruella de Vil, and Belle at new Disneyland Band performances throughout the day is a wonderful gift to guests visiting the park. One can only hope that this is the beginning of more magical moments that feel spontaneous!
