Josh D’Amaro Shares That Tron Lightcycle / Run is ‘Just the Tip of the Iceberg’ for Disney

Ahead of the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run, Disney’s Chairman of Parks Experiences and Products spoke with the Orlando Business Journal. During the interview, he revealed that the attraction is the “tip of the iceberg.” In the interview D’Amaro shared about the attraction and what is yet to come as Walt Disney World moves from its 50th Anniversary celebration into celebrating the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run and beyond.

“Our Imagineers, our entire team, are incredibly ambitious about the experience here and how it will continue to grow and evolve. You’ve seen it come to life with the 50th anniversary coming out of the pandemic and how we stood right back up and brought back all the things people and added new things. You have seen it at EPCOT – it’s totally transforming – and that will continue to transform,” D’Amaro said. “TRON is spectacular, and adding something of this size and scope to the most visited theme park in the world is pretty ambitious and incredible. You see the guests walking off that experience… the look on their faces – and it adds to the whole experience we offer here. But there’s no end… TRON is the tip of the iceberg of what’s coming.”

In the near future there are a couple of things already known to be happening at Walt Disney World Resort. This includes the transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at the Magic Kingdom. This attraction is expected to be opening for guests to experience in late 2024. Over at EPCOT, A Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is being created and will be opening later this year.

At the D23 Expo, several other ideas of what could be possible for the future of Walt Disney World Resort were teased. While none of them were confirmed, there are clearly many ideas for what could be coming from Disney for fans to enjoy in the future. This included possible lands based on Zootopia and Moana at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Coco, Encanto, or even Disney Villains at the Magic Kingdom. These ideas were shared as blue sky ideas to give a look behind the curtain of the process of development that Disney goes through when creating new lands and attractions.

TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens at Magic Kingdom on April 4, 2023 at Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort. Are you excited for this attraction and the future of Disney? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
