An Updated Look at the Progress of Cotino – A Storyliving by Disney Community

Storyliving by Disney was announced in February of this year. When it was announced, it was shared that the first community will be in Rancho Mirage, in the Coachella Valley. This is in the same general area where Walt Disney once owned a home and would spend time relaxing with his family.

“For nearly 100 years, Disney has shared stories that have touched the hearts and minds of people all around the world,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products when Storyliving by Disney was announced. “As we prepare to enter our second century, we are developing new and exciting ways to bring the magic of Disney to people wherever they are, expanding storytelling to storyliving. We can’t wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest.”

Months later, the ground was broken on the first Storyliving by Disney Community. This community is called Cotino. It is expected to be opening sometime in 2024. An exact date hasn’t been announced yet, however. Some images of the Imagineers at work and also concept art have been shared by Disney. However, there hasn’t been really any progress shown since the groundbreaking.

Daps Magic friend Drew from Galactic Surplus was down in the area and took some photos of the project site over the holiday week. At the beginning of his trip found not a lot happening beyond keeping the area from getting too dusty. However, then some machinery arrived and work began to happen on the property. Here are the photos that Drew shared throughout the last week of the Cotino – A Storyliving by Disney Community site.

For each Storyliving by Disney community, Disney Cast Members will operate the community association. This will bring the Disney company’s standard of high-quality guest service to the experience for those who live there. Some of the neighborhoods will also be specified for residents ages 55+. Club membership will allow residents access to experiences created by Disney. This includes wellness programming, entertainment options ranging from live performances to cooking classics, philanthropic endeavors, seminars, and a whole lot more.

At this time, prices have not been released for Cotino – A Storyliving by Disney Community. Daps Magic will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available. This will include reporting on the updates that happen as the concept turns into reality! More details can also be found at storylivingbydisney.com.

Currently in the market to buy in the area for future retirement, would really like to see what Disney would be offering the 55+ homes for. Also interested in seeing the layouts etc. If Celebration in Florida was any indication i am sure they will be at a premium above the current asking prices in the area. Could always visit as a guest as i am reading will be an option. I am sure will be over the top as everything Disney does

    1. I’m sure it’ll be incredible and I’m also sure it will not be cheap. I will be very curious to see more including layouts, pricing, and even simply what a neighborhood actually looks like. I’ll be curious to hear what your thoughts are once we have more information about Cotino!
