Sweethearts’ Nite is back at the Disneyland Resort. This hard-ticketed Disneyland After Dark event celebrates the many couples and love stories found in various Disney movies. The first Sweethearts’ Nite was on February 1, 2022, and guests could definitely feel the love as they made their way around Disneyland.
The event officially began at 8:00 and continued until the clock struck twelve. Throughout the park, guests could get their photos taken in multiple photo locations, see some of their favorite Disney couples to get pictures taken with them, enjoy live music, eat specialty food, experience attractions with shorter wait times, and enjoy the special projections found on Main Street, Sleeping Beauty Castle, and it’s a small world. All of this was coupled with a musical playlist of Disney love songs that was piped throughout the park. Magic Key holders could also get a special valentine that was created specifically for them.
Entertainment for Sweethearts’ Nite was spread out around Disneyland and ranged in styles from big band Disney music, to Ukulele music, to jazz on the Mark Twain, to a DJ in Tomorrowland. Fireworks were also presented with classic Disney love songs included. The entire entertainment list included:
- Sweethearts’ Nite Fireworks
- Royal Ball – it’s a small world – Fantasyland
- Dapper Dans – Main Street, USA
- DJ Wendy – Tomorrowland
- Ukulele Duo – Adventureland
- Piano Player – Golden Horseshoe Saloon – Frontierland
- Moonlight jazz Cruise – Mark Twain – Frontierland
Sweethearts’ Nite was a character lover’s dream. Disney characters, often quite rare, were spread out throughout the park at different locations! Below is a look at who was out and where they were found. Many of these characters had long queues to meet them. People could walk by and take photos with most of them fairly easily though.
Main Street, USA
- Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
- Donald Duck and Daisy Duck
- Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar
- Mary Poppins and Bert

There were some cute Valentine themed photo opportunities to be found throughout the park as well. The lines, by and large, were fairly long for these throughout the night. However, not as long as previous Sweethearts’ Nites it seemed.
Main Street, USA
- Lady and the Tramp
New Orleans Square
- “Together Forever” Tombstones
- The Little Mermaid
The DAPS MAGIC team was on hand throughout the night taking LOTS of videos. They can be seen below. This playlist will continue to grow as videos are edited, rendered, and uploaded to YouTube. There are videos of the fireworks, entertainment, characters, and more! We hope you enjoy!
Overall, Sweethearts’ Nite was a night full of Valentine’s magic. In fact, there was so much magic it was impossible to experience it all! Even with the DAPS MAGIC team dividing and conquering, it was impossible to get coverage of EVERYTHING. With that in mind, if you go to a Disneyland After Dark event, make sure and prioritize and strategize your event experience. Go into the event knowing you won’t be able to experience everything and choose what exactly you want to experience. Pick what you want to do the most and then work your way down your list. After that, don’t worry about what isn’t experienced and focus on the fun things you enjoyed! There is a lot of magic to be enjoyed at a Disneyland After Dark event, Sweethearts’ Nite is no exception. Enjoy experiencing the magic and then treasure the memories!
