Walt Disney World Resort Announces Holiday Festivities!

This morning Walt Disney World Resort announced this year’s Christmas festivities. This year’s celebrations will be coupled with Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebrations as well. There will be some new magic offered and also some returning favorites.

Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom will be celebrating the holidays as decorations spring up on Main Street, U.S.A. In the evenings, there will be special holiday projections on most nights appearing on Cinderella Castle. They will alternate between the transformation the castle undergoes into a Beacon of Magic as part of The World’s Most Magical Celebration.

Disney Very Merriest After Hours

A new holiday event has been announced as well for Magic Kingdom this year. Running from November 8 through December 21 on select nights, this ticketed event will run for four hours. It will also include Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. There will be Disney characters around the park and also holiday music, decor, and included treats will be just some of the offerings. There will only be a limited number of tickets sold for this event and it will take place after regular park operating hours.

Tickets go on sale for Disney Very Merriest After Hours next month. There will be an early purchase window for guests at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Hollywood Holiday Tower Hotel will come to life with Sunset Seasons Greetings in the evenings. Projection effects will bring the tower to life and transform it into “a snowy corner of Arendelle, a Muppets gingerbread masterpiece, a Toy Story toy hotel, and a Dickensian village inspired by ‘Mickey’s Christmas Carol.’” That won’t be all that happens with the Hollywood Tower Hotel, however. It will also continue with Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th-anniversary celebration as it also transforms into a Beacon of Magic.

There will also be a new motorcade on Hollywood Boulevard this year with Santa Claus as he brings some Christmas cheer to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration will add a festive finale with Olaf. Minnie Mouse will return to host a festive meal at Hollywood & Vine as well! Disney promises that Minnie and company will be wearing their holiday best and Santa Goofy will also be around. Throughout the holidays, there will be beautiful vintage-themed holiday decorations adding holiday cheer to the park.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be offering a wild holiday time this year for the holidays. There will be the return of holiday decorations to the park. There will also be festive Disney character flotillas cruising around Discovery River to some of the merriest music of the season. The Tree of Life will come to life with a holiday edition of Tree of Life Awakenings on most nights and it will also transform into a Beacon of Magic as part of the 50th-anniversary celebration.

EPCOT

This year at EPCOT, the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays will be returning. This celebration will run from November 26 through December 30th. It will include Holiday Kitchens that can be found around the parks. The voices of LIberty will be performing as well. The Cookie Stroll is also returning along with several other offerings.

Disney Resort Hotels

For those staying at Disney Resort Hotels, everything will be a bit more magical in the spirit of the season. Guests will enjoy the decorations found at the hotels, including some incredible Christmas trees. The classic gingerbread displays will also be returning this year! At select resorts, there will be special seasonal menu offerings at some of their restaurants.

Disney Springs

Disney Springs will be a magical place to visit and shop during the holiday season. It will transform into a winter wonderland. This will include sparkling lights, decorations, and other holiday surprises. The Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll will be returning once again with Disney-themed trees and also some trees inspired by The World’s Most Magical Celebration. There will also be some snow coming down in Town Center.

Disney Springs is a great place to find ornaments, matching pajamas, Spirit Jerseys, and so much more for Christmas shopping. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar will also transform into Jock Lindsay’s Holiday Bar. This will offer festive decorations and a special themed limited-time menu. Other locations will also be offering seasonal food and beverages as well.
