Mads Mikkelsen has joined the cast of Indiana Jones 5. This comes after the recent announcements by Lucasfilm that Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be joining Harrison Ford in the film. The film is set to be directed by James Mangold, who took over the director’s chair from Steven Spielberg. Spielberg is actively remaining as a producer. Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel are also producers. The musical score will be written by John Williams. The film will be released in theaters on July 29, 2022.
At this point, it is expected that production will be starting this summer. Expect more casting announcements to come leading up to the beginning of production. There currently aren’t any details known about the plot for this film at this time. Expect that to come out later. It is unknown what the roles of Mikkelsen and Waller-Bridge will be in the movie.
This new role continues Mikkelsen’s trend of appearing in high-profile franchises. He recently was brought on board the Fantastic Beasts franchise to replace Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. He also has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Doctor Strange, the Star Wars franchise in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and even in the James Bond franchise in Casino Royale.
