The Disneyland Resort is hoping to be reopening its parks in late April it was confirmed today Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirmed. The parks are currently in the process of recalling 10,000 Cast Members as it prepares to welcome guests back to the parks. At this time, a specific date for reopening has not been announced.

The news came from the Disney shareholder meeting today. When the parks at the Disneyland Resort do reopen, they will have been closed for over 13 months. Originally, the closed in March 2020 with the expectation that they would reopen within weeks. Then, it was hoped that the parks would reopen on July 17, 2020. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to rage on, this did not happen.

Recently, the state of California announced a new set of guidelines saying that theme parks in the state could reopen at 15% capacity starting on April 1st if the county that they are located are in the red tier. It is expected that Orange County, where Disneyland is located, will be in the red tier any day or week now.

Along with news about the reopening of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, Chapek also confirmed that Avengers Campus will be opening sometime later this year. This new Marvel-themed land will be in Disney California Adventure. Disneyland President Ken Potrock has already stated previously that the land is ready to open with the reopening of the parks. Chapek’s statement makes it sound like the new land will be opening sometime after the parks reopen.
