Disney Begins Production on Live-Action Peter Pan & Wendy in Vancouver

Disney announced today that principal photography has officially begun on its upcoming live-action film, Peter Pan & Wendy. The movie is directed by David Lowery, who also directed 2016’s Pete’s Dragon. He is joined by Jim Whitaker as a producer of this film. It will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

“Peter Pan has long been one of my favorite stories, partially because I’ve always resisted growing up, but also because of the heart, adventure and imagination that makes J.M. Barrie’s original tale so evergreen,” says David Lowery. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to redefine his iconic characters for a new generation – and even more excited that I get to do so with such an exceptional cast and crew.”

Peter Pan & Wendy is based on JM. Barrie’s novel Peter and Wendy and is also inspired by Disney’s 1953 animated classic. It tells the story of a young girl who defies her parents’ intentions for her to go to boarding school and instead travels to Neverland with her two younger brothers. There they meet Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, and find themselves in the middle of a dangerous adventure far away from the safety of home and family.

Jude Law stars as Captain Hook in this film. Yara Shahidi portrays Tinkerbell. Ever Anders plays Wendy and Alexander Molony is Peter Pan. Molly Parker is Mrs. Darling and Alan Tudyk plays Mr. Darling. They are joined by Joshua Pickering as John; Jacobi Jupe as Michael and Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tiger Lily; and Jim Gaffigan as Smee.
