Hamilton Film to Come to Disney+ Streaming Service on July 3

Earlier this year, Disney announced that they would be bringing a filmed version of the musical “Hamilton” to theaters in 2021. This morning, Lin Manuel-Miranda, the creator of the show, announced that the musical would be coming to the Disney+ streaming service on July 3!

Originally, the “Hamilton” film was set to hit theaters on October 15, 2021. Just last month, Bob Iger said that they were evaluating options for films on their schedule to put directly on the streaming service. As theaters have been closed since March, Disney has put Onward and Frozen 2 onto the service sooner than expected. They have also announced that films are skipping the theatrical release altogether, like Artemis Fowl.

This special movie was filmed live at the Richard Rogers theater with the original Broadway cast, something that many people around the world have been longing to see since it debuted in 2015. The smash-hit musical was something that took the world by storm and set records when it received 16 Tony Award nominations and received 11 awards in the 2016 season.

We absolutely can’t wait to be in the room where it happens on July 3! This is something we were looking forward to catching in theaters in 2021 and we are thrilled that we can watch in our own home this summer.
