This year, we have seen many movie studios moving around their release schedules. With movie theaters closed and no official sign on when they will re-open globally, we have seen movies get pushed to later dates so they can safely release. This weekend, Marvel Studios announced that they would be adjusting their schedule, which will include postponing the upcoming Spider-Man and Doctor Strange sequels.
While the upcoming untitled Spider-Man sequel was set to release in July 2021, Sony has now moved the film to release on November 5, 2021. This date was originally held by Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. With the release date taken by the planned summer film, we will see Strange move to the spring to March 25, 2022.
Sony has also announced that the sequel to the successful animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse would be delayed. The studio was anticipating releasing the film to eager fans on April 8, 2022, but the film has officially moved its theatrical release date to October 7, 2022.
Not everything is getting pushed later! As Marvel announced these changes, they also noted that Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder would be moving to the movie slot one week earlier than its original date. Fans can expect to see this film hit theaters on February 11, 2022, perfect for Valentine’s Day!
