Have you heard? Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse celebrated their 90th birthday over the weekend on November 18, 2018! It was a celebration made for you and me and of course, Mickey and Minnie fans of all ages! Festivities were taking place throughout the Disneyland Resort, but one of the fan-favorite parts of the celebration was Mickey & Minnie’s Birthday Cavalcade! Nearly 50 of our favorite pals, plus the Dapper Dans, the Disneyland Band Director Kurt, some phenomenal dancers, and Disneyland Resort Ambassadors Mikey Trujillo and Alexa Garcia came out to celebrate the “Big Cheese” and his leading lady with a cavalcade that started near “it’s a small world” and traversed all the way down to Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. with four separate Celebration Stops along the route.
The cavalcade was complete with Mickey & Minnie’s best pals, including Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Chip n Dale. We also got to see many of our favorite Princesses and characters from classic Disney films as they joined in on the celebration of this momentous occasion. But the fun didn’t stop there! Characters we rarely get to see in the parks such as Clarice, Marie, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, Pocahontas, Meeko, Br’er Bear, Br’er Rabbit, and Br’er Fox made a special appearance in honor of this memorable day.
We can’t forget all the guests that showed up to celebrate our favorite Mouseketeers on their 90th birthday! The parade route was chock-full of Disney fans of all ages sporting their favorite Mickey ears, Disneybounds, Mickey & Minnie graphic tees, and of course their Mickey birthday buttons. From their debut in Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1928 through today and beyond, Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse continue to delight the young and the young at heart! Of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without singing “Happy Birthday”! Each Celebration Stop concluded with the entire parade route singing “Happy Birthday” under the direction of the beloved Disneyland Band Director, Kurt. There is something truly magical about seeing so many thousands of people all show up to celebrate two characters that have influenced so many of our lives and as Walt Disney once said, “I hope we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse!”
