Marvel and Stitcher Release Season Finale of ‘Wolverine: The Long Night’

As Stitcher Premium’s biggest new launch this year, the show has been called “seriously addictive” and “like IMAX for your ears.”

NEW YORK CITY – May 7, 2018 – Marvel and top podcast listening service and content network Stitcher (“Heaven’s Gate,” “Katie Couric,” “TheParis Review”) released the final episode of “Wolverine: The Long Night,” Marvel’s first-ever scripted podcast exclusively on Stitcher Premium today. The 10-episode series has received critical acclaim from around the globe and is currently set for wide release across all podcast platforms starting in September 2018.

Recognized as “a masterclass in dramatic realism” by the Financial Times and named by Time Magazine as one of the “50 Best Podcasts to Listen to Right Now,” “Wolverine: The Long Night” has received universal praise for its story, sound production, voice acting, and its thrilling hybrid of mystery and the larger-scale fantasy of the Marvel Universe. The show has also been featured in Mashable, TechCrunch, Wired, Vulture, Studio 360 and more.

“As our first scripted podcast, we are thrilled by the overwhelming response from critics and fans alike,” said Dan Silver, head of platforms and content for Marvel New Media. “With all 10 episodes now available on Stitcher Premium, fans can listen to ‘Wolverine: The Long Night’ in a complete, fully-realized experience that no other medium can offer. As our storytelling continues to grow and evolve, we are excited to explore other opportunities in this space.”

In the finale, Logan and the Agents finally have their long-awaited face to face, and Pierce and Marshall each have to make their hardest decision yet.

“We’re so excited to see just how strongly our audience has embraced Marvel’s ‘Wolverine: The Long Night,’” said Daniel Osit, general manager of Stitcher Premium. “The show has attracted many new listeners to Stitcher Premium in order to keep up with the latest news out of Burns, Alaska, proving that excellent production and a truly compelling story are worth the cost of entry.”

With all 10 episodes now available on Stitcher Premium, listeners can follow Sally Pierce (Celia Keenan-Bolger) and Tad Marshall’s (Ato Essandoh) story from start to finish as they arrive in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska, to investigate a series of murders and quickly discover the town lives infear of a serial killer. The agents team up with deputy Bobby Reid (Andrew Keenan-Bolger) to investigate their main suspect, Logan (RichardArmitage). Their search leads them on a fox hunt through the mysterious and corrupt town.

“This is an extremely visual and visceral story. For Logan, this is a journey of self-discovery, laced with abhorrence. He’s a man of action rather than words – a dynamic character who is at odds with his own existence,” said Armitage. “As we get to know him over 10 episodes, it appears that he’s getting to know himself. His power is his downfall, and his revelation about how to use that power and reconcile with his self-perceived rotten decayed soul builds the complexity of his character. I’m a sucker for a great story, and I really enjoyed the writing for this series. I hope fans feel the same.”

“Wolverine: The Long Night” was written by award-winning comic book author Ben Percy (“The Wilding,” “Red Moon”) and directed by BrendanBaker (formerly a producer for Radiotopia’s “Love & Radio”) with sound design by Chloe Prasinos (formerly a producer for Gimlet’s “Reply All”).The series is produced by Daniel Fink of Marvel and Jenny Radelet of Stitcher.

In addition to Armitage, the show’s cast includes notable actors Scott Adsit (“30 Rock”), Bob Balaban (“Moonrise Kingdom”) and Brian StokesMitchell (“Mr. Robot”).

Also cast in the series are actors Zoe Chao, Chaske Spencer, Jordan Bridges, David Call, Michael J. Burg and Lannon Killea. Chris Gethard, host ofthe popular “Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People” podcast, will also make a cameo appearance.
