Mission: SPACE Starts New Missions at Epcot in August

mission spaceDisney Parks Blog announced that August 13 will have new missions at Mission: SPACE.  The orange and green versions will now be different.  And on the green mission side there will be special booster seats to allow children 40″-44″ to ride.  Here’s the Parks Blog description of each side:

  • If you think you’ve got “the right stuff,” take on the Orange Mission for a truly intense experience that lets you feel the force of an actual space launch en route to Mars. On this mission, you’ll dodge meteoroids, slingshot around the moon and attempt a precision landing on the Red Planet’s alien surface. This “mission” has been enhanced with new, HD video to make it even clearer – I can’t imagine!
  • Or, embark on the more family-friendly Green Mission – a new mission that takes you on an exciting orbit around Earth. On this amazing new adventure, you’ll take in sites like the Hawaiian Islands, Italy’s “boot” and the Northern Lights—as seen from space, of course—before finally landing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. No matter which mission you choose, it’ll be a journey that’s totally out of this world.

Mission: SPACE has been a rather intense ride since its opening.  The green side was opened to allow for more to ride without the full breadth of the attraction technology.  Having new missions will also breathe life into this attraction as well.  It has always been a fun ride, and now it will be even more fun!  And it’s great that more can enjoy it, like younger kids that meet the height requirement.  It also sounds like the green side will be even less intense than it previously was.  With both sides being different there are now reasons to experience each side when visiting.
