NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover at EPCOT

New Display Added in Front of Mission: SPACE at EPCOT

A new display is now found in front of Mission: SPACE at EPCOT. It comes from a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover team. The display replicates the tread marks from the tires of the Perseverance rover on the surface of Mars. This was done using a borrowed prototype rover wheel. To add to the display, Disney artisans also added some surface collection tubes that were recreated through 3D printing. Perseverance is still on its mission to collect samples that someday a future mission could return to Earth. Check out the photos of the new display here:

The Perseverance, nicknamed Percy, is a car sized rover that was designed to explore the Jezero crater on Mars as part of NASA’s Mars 2020 mission. It was built by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on on July 30, 2020. It was confirmed to have landed on Mars on February 18, 2021. As of October 6, 2023, Perseverance has been active on Mars for 934 Earth days.

The arrival of this new display comes as EPCOT nears the end of its multi-year transformation. This has included new attractions, entertainment, neighborhoods, shops, and dining options. It is supposed to be completed by the end of the year.
