Frozen 2, The Lion King, and More Disney Movies Get Release Dates!

Disney has announced the release dates for quite a few movies including Frozen 2, The Lion King, Star Wars: Episode IX and more! The announcements should have a little bit of something for everyone.

Frozen 2

The sequel to the hit animated feature will be coming to the big screen on November 27, 2019. This highly anticipated sequel has a lot to live up to after the success of the original. It also will have a fantastic cast and crew which will help it do just that. It would not be a huge surprise for more to come out about this movie at this summer’s D23 Expo.

The Lion King

This live-action adaptation of the animated musical feature is being directed by Jon Favreau and will roar into theaters on July 19, 2019. It has an incredible cast that includes Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones as Mufasa. Judging by Favreau’s success with The Jungle Book, this should be a fun movie as well.

Star Wars: Episode IX

The Star Wars appears to be returning to its original theatrical release home as Star Wars: Episode IX gets a release date of May 24, 2019. This film will conclude the newest trilogy of the Skywalker saga and hopefully wrap up any questions that are remaining about Rey, Kylo Ren, Luke, and Leia.

Gigantic

This will be a big movie when it comes out on November 25, 2020. This musical animated feature will be directed by Meg LeFauve and Nathan Greno as it tells the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. They will be joined by the musical talents of Robert Lopez and Kristin Anderson-Lopez, the duo behind the music of Frozen. This should be a fun movie with a fantastic soundtrack.

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

Wreck-It Ralph is back and this time, as the title suggests, he’s going on adventure in the internet. This movie will bring Ralph and Vanellope back to the silver screens on November 21,2018.

Magic Camp

This movie will come to theaters on April 6, 2018. There really isn’t a lot known about it yet but expect that to change in the not so distant future.

A Wrinkle in Time

Starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaliningrad, and others, this film is based on the book of the same name and will be released on March 9, 2018. It is being directed by Ava DuVernay.

Indiana Jones 5

Harrison Ford will be donning the hat again and partnering up with Steven Spielberg to bring Indiana Jones back to the big screen on July 10, 2020. There isn’t an official title for this film yet. It will be fun to see what adventures Indy will be going on though in another three years! It also should be noted that this movie was originally slated to be released on July 19, 2019, the slot now home to The Lion King.

For movie fans, these dates should give a lot to look forward to. Which of these movies are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
