5 Songs You Must See Performed Live by the Disneyland Resort 2016 All-American College Band

Summer is in full swing at the Disneyland Resort and that means that the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band is performing daily (Tuesday-Saturday) in Disney California Adventure and also Disneyland. Each year, this energetic group of musicians delight guests throughout the Resort as they perform both sitting down Jazz sets and also standing up marching band sets. Each year, fans are also delighted as they watch the performances on YouTube. However, there are a few songs that really must be experienced LIVE at the Disneyland Resort as the Disneyland Resort 2016 All-American College Band performs them. Here are five of these songs that really need to be experienced before the band says goodbye at the end of the summer.

5. A Dream is a Wish

This song is often heard as the band begins its Sleeping Beauty Castle set at 6:15 pm. It is a wonderful blend of old and new as the band takes a Disney classic and adds a little pizzazz to it. This arrangement not only brings smiles to faces of listeners but also always draws in a crowd.

4. Disney Attractions Medley

The band takes fans on a musical journey through Disney attractions that is both spirited and magical. And… really all you really need to know is this: Tiki Room! Seriously though, there are few things more magical than hearing Disney music in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. This song can also be experienced during the 6:15 pm set.

3. Jazz Crimes

The Disneyland Resort All-American College Band begins every day with a sit-down jazz set on the Hollywood Backlot Stage in Disney California Adventure. One of the pieces that is regularly played there is a song called Jazz Crimes by Joshua RedmanWhile always impressive, this year Adrian’s bari sax solo is even more ridiculous and is a must see! Video just can’t capture the energy that is happening during this piece and I think our team has done a fantastic job capturing this song on video this year.

2. Star Wars Medley

A new addition to the band’s repertoire this year, this Star Wars medley takes some of John Williams’ most well known themes from all seven Star Wars films. Odds are, it will have your favorite Star Wars tune in it. This quickly became a favorite of mine and there is nothing like hearing Star Wars music played live! AND… it’s STAR WARS. Do I really need to say anything more?

1. Tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire

A favorite every year, this medley is absolutely incredible. There is absolutely no way to do it justice other than to be standing right in front of the band during the finale. The medley includes many favorite tunes from Earth, Wind & Fire that is pulled together in a way that showcases what this band is really capable of. The video of this medley can’t even come close to capturing the energy that is going on during this song. It must be experienced at the 7:15 set in front of Main Street, Station.

These are a few of the performances of the Disneyland Resort 2016 All-American College Band that I think absolutely must be experienced live. I recognize that there are others that could easily have been included in this list. You can watch all of their songs below and then tell us…Which songs would you choose?
