Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

The fifth outing of Pirates of the Caribbean apparently has a name. According to This is Infamous, it will be Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. This information was shared during an interview with Pirates directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.

The movie is starring Johnny Depp and directed by Kon Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. The script is being written by Jeff Nathanson and Jerry Bruckheimer is returning to produce the film. It is expected to be released on July 15, 2015 with filming commencing sometime the year before.

This is a name that won’t be a huge surprise to fans of the attraction which inspired the Pirates of the Caribbean Movies. It is a classic phrase that is quickly associated with the attraction, although it could have been said first by native Saban pirate was Hiram Beakes,  “Dead men tell no tales” in the Caribbean. However, historians also have noted that a Persion poet named said Sa’di, around 1250, said that this is what should done to to all quacks and charlatans:

“So I finished the rogue, notwithstanding his wails,
With stones, for dead men, as you know, tell no tales.”

Other historians trace the phrase back to Thomas Becon (c. 1560). Where the phrase originated perhaps will never be known. What will be known is that this phrase was made famous by the attraction first at Disneyland named Pirates of the Caribbean, and then at other Disney theme parks around the globe.  And now it will be the name of the 5th Pirates of the Caribbean film.

What do you think of this name? Are you excited for the movie?
