DAPs Magic Disney News – by Mr. DAPs

Today, guests visiting the Disneyland Resort marveled at presence of the Terra Cotta Warrior as a part of the Lunar New Year celebration.

According to the Bowers Museum website, this is Chi Chang Cheng. More commonly known as Jarry, he is dressed as one of the Terra Cotta Warriors and performed demonstrations in the Small World mall throughout the day. He was also available for guests to take photos with him. Jarry is from Taiwan and is calling the Bowers Museum home through March 2012. He first appeared there in 2008 as a part of their exhibition, Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor.

Jarry is in town currently as a part of the Bowers Museum exhibit:  Warriors, Tombs and Temples: China’s Enduring Legacy. The Bowers Museum will be presenting this until March 4, 2012 when it will move on with Jarry to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Disneyland is celebrating the Lunar New Year from January 20-29. During this time Disneyland is celebrating and paying homage to the traditions of families of Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures.  Along with special performances from people of these cultures there are meet and greets with Mulan, Mushu, Chip, and Dale.
