Visions, Star Wars, and Bananas - GEEKS CORNER - Episode #815

0:17
Welcome to Geeks Corner. I'm Mr. Dax.
0:19
>> I'm Katie.
0:19
>> And did you know that Ahsokaano debuted
0:22
on August 15th, 2008 in Star Wars: The
0:25
Clone Wars in theaters? I was going to
0:28
say, are we counting the movie?
0:30
>> Yes, because that was really the first
0:32
two.
0:33
>> It was,
0:34
>> but it did get released in theaters. I
0:35
remember it being a big deal because it
0:37
was technically new Star Wars in
0:38
theaters even though it was a cartoon.
0:40
And you know, it wasn't it wasn't very
0:43
long if I recall.
0:44
>> Cartoons are real Star Wars.
0:45
>> Yeah, but at the time
0:47
>> I know
0:47
>> it was completely new. No, I'm just
0:49
saying I feel like even still to this
0:52
day in the year of 2026, I feel like
0:55
some people write off uh things like
0:57
Maul.
0:58
>> Oh, they shouldn't though because it
0:59
adds so much to the story.
1:00
>> Or
1:02
but if you're not watching the the
1:05
cartoons, you're only getting half the
1:07
story.
1:09
>> There you go. What should people do?
1:10
>> You should go and uh first of all, add
1:13
the cartoons to like your watch list.
1:15
And while you're here, you should go and
1:19
subscribe wherever you are. Um, you
1:21
should go into the chat. You should say
1:24
preferably like insightful things, but I
1:26
will also take funny things. I do like a
1:29
good I do like a good laugh, a good
1:30
chuckle, if you will, uh, because we do
1:33
have a section uh, at the end for
1:35
comments
1:36
>> where we will respond to your comments.
1:38
Shocking, I know.
1:39
>> Yes. There's also, if you go to
1:41
dapshq.com,
1:44
there is a post show to this show. So,
1:47
go go open that another tab. Do not
1:49
close this tab. Open that another tab.
1:50
Get dabs hq.com ready. Get all plugged
1:53
in. There's some there's some big things
1:55
happening there tonight.
1:56
>> DAPS after dark.
1:57
>> Who's to say?
1:58
>> All right. Well, we're going to move
1:59
right into the show. But before we get
2:02
into everything, it is that time of year
2:04
where we start talking about Chuckwalk
2:06
again, which is the fantastic It's
2:08
August 2nd. Is that correct?
2:10
>> Walk through the parks before they open.
2:12
You get characters. You get amazing
2:14
people. You get to hang out with us.
2:16
It's a lot of fun. We make a huge
2:18
difference for the children that attend
2:19
and their families that that go to uh
2:22
Raidies Children's Health of Orange
2:23
County. So, our chalk now really, but um
2:26
it's like our chalk. Our chalk. I I get
2:28
it. Right. Yeah. But uh we've been doing
2:31
this for about 20 years and it makes
2:32
such a huge difference and it gives
2:34
people hope. It gives them joy and it
2:36
really does change the world one step
2:39
and one dollar at a time. So, if you'd
2:41
like to join our team, head on over to
2:43
chalkwalk.org/dapsmagic
2:46
or if you just like to support us, you
2:47
can go there and pick somebody and and
2:49
donate. Um, that would be fantastic as
2:52
well. But do it. It'll be fun.
2:55
>> We'd love to have you walk with us.
2:56
>> It's a really good time. And I think
2:58
that chalkwalk is one of those things
2:59
that you could hear a lot about it, but
3:01
until you actually get to experience it,
3:03
you kind of can't comprehend it.
3:05
>> Um, because there's something about
3:06
being there. Yes, it is early in the
3:07
morning and some people get scared away
3:09
by that. I am also not a morning person.
3:11
You are not really a morning person, but
3:13
there is something in the air about
3:15
Chalkwalk that is just magical and it is
3:17
people coming together to make the world
3:19
better. Um, and over the years we've
3:22
done this, we've gotten to know a lot of
3:23
people that Chalk has reached out and
3:25
touched and helped and been part of. Um,
3:27
and we also get to see that relationship
3:29
between chalk and now our chalk and the
3:33
families. And I think that's really
3:34
special. So,
3:36
>> so we hope to see you there August 2nd,
3:38
bright and early. All right. In 2027,
3:41
because we're already looking ahead to
3:42
that, Autotopia will be going electric.
3:45
We had it confirmed this last week. And,
3:48
uh, I think that was interesting because
3:50
I'd literally been talking to a couple
3:51
friends in the last month or two. I'm
3:53
like, I thought Otopia was going to go
3:55
electric later this year. And we kind of
3:57
had that like, hm, that's weird. I would
4:01
think we'd be hearing something about
4:02
this soon. And lo and behold, then it
4:04
comes out that electric's happening in
4:06
2027, which early 2027's fine. Like, I
4:11
could imagine it happening like right
4:13
after the holidays end. They close
4:14
Autotopia for however long it takes to
4:16
flip it around and swap out cars or
4:18
whatever. and then um you get electric
4:21
cars instead of the the gas cars. I
4:24
could also see them closing it longer to
4:26
change it like maybe change the drive or
4:28
something,
4:30
>> but I don't know that you actually need
4:31
to. What do you think about them going
4:32
electric and what they should do?
4:34
>> So, they pump in smells famously. Um can
4:39
they do that for the smell of gasoline?
4:41
>> Please no.
4:42
>> I Okay, you stay out of this. I love the
4:45
smell of gasoline. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
4:49
I do hope they make the the electric
4:52
vehicles sound
4:53
>> like the same
4:54
>> like something. Yeah.
4:55
>> I don't know if it needs to be electric
4:57
sounding or like an automobile sound.
4:59
Like I hope they just make them sound
5:00
something like have a distinct sound.
5:02
>> Anyway, that's my that's my take on it.
5:04
Um I will say I am very pro- electric uh
5:09
vehicles in general. Um I'm always very
5:13
optimistic about what the future holds
5:15
for them. And so I think that this is a
5:17
good step to kind of model the um utopia
5:24
because did you guys know that auto
5:26
utopia that's autotopia? Um it does
5:30
model the utopia we would like to see in
5:32
the world. Um and I personally I miss I
5:35
don't go on this attraction enough so I
5:37
can't speak on if this is like still a
5:38
thing. Um, but when you used to go into
5:42
the show building
5:44
>> and there was those scenes with the
5:46
Chevron cars.
5:48
>> Yeah. Um, I think that would be a really
5:51
cool opportunity to like teach about um
5:54
>> it'll be interesting to see if the
5:55
sponsor changes.
5:56
>> Correct. But I think it'd be really cool
5:58
to see like um like how are we
6:01
harnessing electric like almost like in
6:04
an Epcot type of way using that
6:05
edutainment of like what how could that
6:08
impact the world. Um but yeah, no, my
6:10
biggest takeaway is I have to go stand
6:13
over by Autotopia on that bridge for a
6:15
while and just like
6:17
>> All right, there you go. Uh we'll just
6:19
move right along from that. I guess
6:22
>> I will be uh selling bottled air. Pin
6:25
trading is changing once again at the
6:27
Disneyland Resort. This is not the first
6:29
time this has happened, nor will it be
6:30
the last. It seems like they kind of go
6:32
back and forth on this, but they've
6:35
updated the FAQ on the Disneyland
6:37
website, and you will no longer be able
6:39
to display your pins in big display
6:43
things on chairs, on tables, on benches.
6:46
Um, it's a little bit vague on if you'll
6:48
even be able to bring the big books in
6:50
because it does say lanyards and small
6:52
accessories for your pins. Mhm.
6:54
>> And then the rest of the rules are
6:56
basically the same. And I'm sure there's
6:58
tons of people that have tons of
7:00
opinions on this. Um, but I will say
7:02
this going into this,
7:05
>> this has happened before.
7:06
>> I believe they backtracked in 2023. So
7:09
now three years later, they're they're
7:11
going back to what it was before 2023,
7:13
which before that, probably three or
7:16
four years was the other. Um, I do think
7:19
this is probably a good thing just
7:21
because as you're looking at what most
7:23
of the decisions being made around the
7:25
Disneyland Resort are how can we benefit
7:27
the most people in the park at any given
7:29
time and and I think that it has gotten
7:33
a little bit perhaps overkill in the
7:36
entrance to Frontier Land where it's not
7:39
been as
7:42
I don't know if the word's friendly, but
7:44
not as not as
7:46
>> Yeah, it's just not as great of an
7:47
experience. experience for the average
7:48
guest going through and not
7:50
understanding what's going on. And um
7:54
and uh I see Chris in the chat saying it
7:56
was becoming very predatory. And I do
7:58
think there were people that just knew
8:00
things that the average people don't
8:02
know and use that perhaps to their
8:04
advantage. And um so I think this is
8:06
it's a good like if you can carry five
8:08
or 20 even pins great, but I don't think
8:12
you need to carry in like do that
8:14
somewhere else. You know, you can meet
8:15
up if you want at at Denny's and and all
8:19
have your fun, whatever, but I I don't
8:21
know that Disneyland is the best place
8:23
for that.
8:24
>> I um
8:27
I was very avid pin trader in my teen
8:30
years. Um I still have quite a few
8:32
Disney pens that I love. Um me and my
8:35
friends actually the kind of trouble I
8:37
got into as a teenager was we would uh
8:39
do like a figure eight loop of
8:40
Disneyland and DCA and uh just find cast
8:43
members to pin trade with. Um we like
8:45
this is the what we can trade now. We'd
8:46
like try and find the sets whatever
8:48
>> the way it should be.
8:49
>> Correct. And I think that that magic has
8:53
been a little bit dampened by some of
8:56
the I don't want to say the business of
8:59
it, but it kind of has become oh no, I
9:01
won't trade that for this. And yeah, as
9:04
a person, you are um entitled to that.
9:09
But it is sometimes a little bit hard
9:10
for maybe younger guests or guests that
9:13
don't have this in-depth knowledge to
9:15
kind of know the difference. They see a
9:17
bunch of pins and they're like, I like
9:18
pins. Let's pin trade on. You're near a
9:20
pin store. I can't necessarily
9:22
differentiate. Um
9:26
I I just want Disneyland to be a very
9:29
fun place and that's it. And if this is
9:32
going to protect the magic and if this
9:34
is going to protect the fun that is pin
9:37
trading because I think back to I mean
9:40
this is shout out to grandpa George. Uh
9:42
my grandfather was actually like a day
9:44
one pin trader. Like I have the pins
9:46
from 2001. Um, I think about how fun pin
9:50
trading was and like the things you
9:53
could find and now there's like oh
9:55
chasers and the backs and this and I'm
9:57
like I don't know man like I just I just
10:00
want to see like cast members cool pins
10:01
and like I love to admire pin boards. I
10:04
think those are super fun. Um and so I'm
10:06
I am obviously here at Death's Magic we
10:09
are all about preserving the magic and I
10:11
think that that's just
10:14
hopefully this is a step to do just
10:15
that. Um, I also think that there's
10:17
always a a shortage of benches and
10:20
tables.
10:21
>> I think that's actually a big point,
10:22
too, is there are always a shortage of
10:24
places to sit ever since Galaxy's Edge
10:26
opened and uh was it Project Stardust?
10:28
>> Project Stardust.
10:29
>> And I feel like we lost a lot of those
10:31
things that used to be places you could
10:33
just go and sit and rest for a little
10:35
bit and then you could pick up and keep
10:36
going with your day. And um it's kind of
10:40
an interesting thing with photo nicks as
10:42
we look back at photos through the years
10:44
of Disneyland and seeing how many
10:45
benches were there through the years. Um
10:48
but uh yeah, I think it'll be a good
10:49
thing. I think it won't be a permanent
10:52
thing. If I have to make a guess, give
10:53
it a few years.
10:55
It's going to go back and forth and
10:57
they're going to I think the problem is
10:59
it gets to two far extremes on both
11:01
ends. Correct. and they really need to
11:03
to find that medium and uh so hopefully
11:06
they do and hopefully it goes well and
11:08
hopefully everybody has fun and it
11:10
doesn't look like pins are going away
11:11
anytime soon. If you look at that stand
11:13
in downtown Disney and
11:14
>> and the Tuesday pin drop things.
11:16
>> Yeah, they're they're doing a fantastic
11:18
job. Um I I really do hope they add more
11:21
um benches.
11:22
>> Yeah, ain't got the truth. Uh, all
11:24
right. It is time for one of our
11:27
favorite things to do here on Geeks
11:29
Corner, and it is time to play the game.
11:31
Not so magical markup.
11:43
That is right. It is time for Not So
11:45
Magical Markup. And this time it's the
11:46
Americana edition because the Americana
11:49
collection just came out in celebration
11:51
of the 250th anniversary of the United
11:54
States of America. You can get most of
11:56
it online. You can also get a bunch of
11:58
it in the parks. Sadly, not the Muppets
12:00
yet
12:01
>> from what I can tell.
12:02
>> A salute to all merchandise, but mostly
12:05
America. Mhm. Um, I will say for better
12:09
or for worse, the Muppets have not end
12:12
the new merchandise for the Americana
12:14
have not ended up on eBay yet. So, the
12:17
way this game works is I'm going to show
12:19
you something I have found on
12:21
Disneystore.com.
12:23
And then you get to tell me what you
12:25
think that not so magical markup is by
12:28
those who've decided to sell the exact
12:30
same thing on eBay
12:32
>> that's currently available.
12:34
>> I don't know. I just know because they
12:37
do this, we can play this game.
12:39
Anyway, let's play some not so magical
12:42
markup. Are you ready for the first
12:44
thing?
12:45
>> I think I am.
12:46
>> All right, the first item is a Mickey
12:49
Mouse icon ball ornament that is
12:53
kind of like a flag. And uh it is going
12:56
for $29.99
12:59
on the Disney Store website. Mhm.
13:03
>> How much do you think it's not so
13:04
magical markup is?
13:06
>> Uh, I'm going to say a a cool 32.
13:09
>> $32. So, not going super high on this
13:11
one. Okay.
13:12
>> I I don't know.
13:14
>> Okay.
13:14
>> I It doesn't call to me. It doesn't I
13:16
don't have the siren call.
13:18
>> Okay.
13:19
>> Of uh resellers. I don't know. I could
13:21
be wrong. That's That's the fun of this
13:23
game.
13:23
>> You never know. Yeah. Um it's so new
13:26
that it doesn't even have any stars yet.
13:28
>> Oh boy. There's no reviews. All the
13:30
stars are on the ornament, not on the
13:32
ratings.
13:32
>> I do sometimes wonder like how do you
13:34
review something like an ornament?
13:36
>> I see Roger has $49. And of course, this
13:39
is for your Fourth of July tree.
13:41
>> We know people that have year- round
13:44
Christmas trees that do things like
13:46
this.
13:46
>> So, we got 32,49 and 57 so far
13:50
>> and 45.98.
13:51
>> Oh, and 45.98
13:53
and 75.99. Okay.
13:56
>> From dad specifically.
13:57
>> Okay,
13:57
>> that's kind of crazy. See if we get a
13:59
second one there
14:02
and then we're going to move on.
14:06
>> Mhm.
14:08
Okay. I think I think those are our
14:09
collections, right? All right. Well,
14:12
>> what did you say?
14:13
>> We're going to keep moving.
14:14
>> Okay.
14:15
>> We got, you know, lags, whatever.
14:16
>> Got We got to show
14:17
>> got to show. All right. Are we ready?
14:20
Okay. So, the not so magical markup is
14:24
$44.99.
14:26
>> Wait a minute. it
14:28
>> uh over by a dollar.
14:31
>> 49
14:33
57 75. You got a point.
14:35
>> WOW.
14:36
>> LOOK AT THAT. You You got the first
14:38
point of the game.
14:40
>> Let's see how you do in round two.
14:42
>> Oh gosh. I'm never too I won last time.
14:44
I
14:45
>> All right. The next one is a Buzz
14:47
Lightyear talking action figure Toy
14:49
Story 250th Independence Day anniversary
14:52
limited release. It is $49.99. This one
14:56
is being sold in the parks. Actually, I
14:58
saw the ornament in the parks as well.
14:59
There's a lot of um
15:01
>> Yes, but it's basically $50, but $49.99.
15:04
Once again, no stars yet. Um because
15:07
they're already on him. What do you
15:08
think, Katie?
15:10
>> That's a bad joke. Um I am going to say
15:17
60 doll hairs.
15:19
>> $60 on the nose. Okay.
15:20
>> Yeah, why not? Why not $60?
15:23
>> Does he say like
15:24
>> I don't know. Does he say patriotic
15:26
things?
15:27
>> I hope so. I mean, I'm sure he says
15:30
something. I wish they'd had a video or
15:31
something that you could watch. Uh,
15:33
we've got two for 60. We got another one
15:35
for $64.99.
15:38
>> Okay.
15:39
>> I really want to know like just to go
15:41
like
15:41
>> reach for the stars.
15:45
>> 74.98
15:46
$72
15:48
and uh looks like it's in stock.
15:52
Yeah, there's there was quite a few. and
15:55
$65.
15:57
All right. Well, the actual eBay price
16:00
or not so magical markup is
16:03
>> $99.95.
16:07
>> I believe Bailey just got that point.
16:10
>> Yeah.
16:10
>> Well played, Bailey.
16:11
>> Whoa.
16:13
>> Yeah. I don't I don't know.
16:15
>> That's a little wacky.
16:20
>> Insane.
16:21
>> Yeah.
16:22
>> Yeah.
16:24
And I'm gonna give it to Bailey because
16:25
I'd already said it before, but but
16:27
Fernando, you get one also. Yeah.
16:29
>> So, I'm gonna give two points for that
16:31
one. So, each of you get one. Um I was
16:33
like, how am I going to do that? Yes.
16:35
Exactly. All right. Next one. Moving
16:37
right along. We have these wonderful
16:39
Minnie Mouse Americana sequent ear
16:43
headbands for $36.99.
16:46
And uh what do you think these are going
16:49
for, Katie?
16:50
>> $51.
16:52
>> $51.
16:53
We go for a $15 markup.
16:56
>> $15.
16:57
You do have to wonder what their logic
16:59
is in that.
17:00
>> I do wonder
17:01
>> because it's not like a 20% or a 60%.
17:04
Like there's not
17:04
>> How much are they including shipping?
17:06
Because if they're including shipping,
17:08
Sure.
17:08
>> Who knows? But you can use Apple Pay on
17:11
Disney Store, so that's nice.
17:12
>> Oh, that's a good thing.
17:13
>> Yeah. All right. Do we have any other uh
17:16
>> There we go. Uh $4.90. Oh, 44.99. I was
17:21
like, "Wow, you have low." Uh,
17:23
>> okay. Prices, right? Okay.
17:25
>> So, you said 60.
17:27
>> I said, "No, I said 51."
17:29
>> 51. Okay. So, $44.99, $75, $54.95,
17:34
$19.99. I like that. $52.98. I feel like
17:38
in prices like right, there was always a
17:40
lot of uh 1999s. All right. The actual
17:44
>> I'm scared.
17:45
>> What are you scared of?
17:46
>> After that last one, I'm scared.
17:48
>> Oh, okay. It's the wild west out there.
17:50
>> All right. Well, the actual not so
17:52
magical markup is
17:54
$5250.
17:57
Bailey, you were over by what? 48 cents.
18:02
>> Yeah.
18:02
>> Uh 52. So that puts What did you say?
18:07
>> I said whatever plus $15 was. So 51.
18:12
>> So you've got two points now.
18:13
>> What?
18:14
>> I was just about to give it to Chris.
18:16
>> What? Right. I said 51. Somebody fact
18:18
check me, right?
18:19
>> If not, it's going to Chris,
18:21
>> right?
18:21
>> Somebody said that fact check, right?
18:22
>> I don't want to lie. I I don't like to
18:24
lie, guys.
18:26
>> All right, while you guys figure that
18:27
out, I'm going to show you the next one.
18:29
And that is the Mickey and Minnie Mouse
18:33
Americana tote bag by Harvey's.
18:37
>> Sure.
18:38
>> Why are you chugging? What What What's
18:39
your question?
18:40
>> Harvey's?
18:41
>> Yeah, they made the seat belt bags.
18:42
>> Oh, good.
18:43
>> We have a Matterhorn one in here
18:44
somewhere. by
18:46
um
18:47
>> one time a lady uh tried to hunt me down
18:50
in Downtown Disney for my
18:51
>> I remember this uh $28 is what it's
18:54
going for on the Disney store.
18:57
>> What do you think?
18:58
>> Uh I'm going to say
19:02
say 270.
19:04
>> 270. Why not? Okay. Why not? Why not?
19:06
>> I don't know. It calls to me.
19:08
>> You never know. It could be anything.
19:10
Okay.
19:10
>> Okay. We've got 270. We've got 260.
19:14
That's those are good guesses, I guess.
19:16
I don't actually remember what this one
19:18
was.
19:19
>> I will say I did not buy my Harvey my
19:21
60th anniversary Harvey's bag at full
19:23
price. I did not do that.
19:24
>> Um, I will also say I don't generally
19:26
pay attention to the prices. I just
19:28
screenshot. Uh, all right. 275 358.98.
19:34
Well played. 250. What did you say?
19:37
>> 270.
19:38
>> 270. Okay. So, this is all close. This
19:40
is crazy. Uh let's see if Fernando comes
19:42
in with one on uh uh in 20 254. All
19:47
right, we're going we're going by the
19:48
game. That's how it's played. Um we love
19:51
it when it's some strategy is used for
19:53
this game.
19:54
>> I'm really glad to not be in between you
19:55
guys right now.
19:58
>> Uh all right,
20:00
we are going to go with or see what the
20:03
actual not so magical markup is. And it
20:06
is
20:06
>> I'm scared.
20:08
>> 24950.
20:10
Oh my god.
20:11
>> So, uh, did anybody get that?
20:14
>> I don't think anybody got that.
20:15
>> Uh, 260, 275,
20:18
350.
20:19
>> Oh my god. Mom was so close.
20:22
>> Nobody got it. That's a first. That has
20:24
never happened before. Okay. Well,
20:27
>> oh my god.
20:28
>> You know, there's a first time for
20:29
everything. All right. Final one. This
20:32
could be a tiebreaker or tie maker or
20:34
who knows what it's going to be, but it
20:36
is the Mickey and Minnie Mouse Disney
20:38
Parks American Mini Montreal.
20:42
This is a toy. It is $14.99.
20:46
That would have been a case that last
20:47
one, by the way, where if anybody had
20:49
done a dollar, they won.
20:52
>> After fees, there's no way there. Yeah.
20:54
I don't get it. I don't know.
20:56
>> Yeah, I don't know.
21:02
So,
21:03
>> the game is the game. Yep. All right.
21:05
So, how much do you think, Katie, for
21:06
the
21:07
>> spaying new to your pets? Um,
21:11
I'm going to say I don't know, man. This
21:13
is hard. I'm going to say $21.
21:16
>> $21. All right. $17.99 from
21:20
>> That's so ugly.
21:22
>> Uh, they are selling these in the parks,
21:24
I believe. I saw one on Sunday. Um $20
21:28
20. Is that 26.98?
21:31
Okay.
21:32
>> Um
21:34
>> we really should get you like a a skinny
21:36
microphone for these.
21:37
>> 35. I have a skinny microphone. That's
21:40
funny.
21:41
>> Yeah, we should get you like a
21:43
>> $35.
21:47
>> Also, I really want the next time um my
21:50
mom sees you, I do want her to yell,
21:52
"The price is wrong, Daps."
21:54
>> That's funny. Uh $24.99. All right, the
21:57
actual not so magical markup for the
22:01
Mickey and Minnie Mouse Montreal is
22:06
2950.
22:08
Who got that?
22:09
>> I think Roger with a last
22:10
>> $28. Roger. Roger gets a point. Did you
22:14
win again?
22:15
>> Yeah.
22:18
>> All right, there's our not so magical
22:19
markup.
22:20
>> I need everybody to understand. I am
22:22
nowhere. Like you guys can't comprehend
22:25
how seriously he takes this. I'm not
22:27
allowed to even like be in the room when
22:29
he's doing not magical markup.
22:30
>> It is correct.
22:32
>> First of all, I was at work all day
22:33
today, but
22:35
>> yeah, it
22:35
>> there's been times where I've been home
22:37
and I get shued away because Yeah. No.
22:42
And like I wasn't looking.
22:44
>> But that was the not so magical markup.
22:46
And uh yeah, we'll play it again soon
22:48
hopefully. If you have other ideas for
22:50
games you'd like us to play, let us know
22:51
in the comments and we will return for
22:53
those at some point as well.
22:54
>> That's crazy.
22:55
>> That was crazy. All right, we got some
22:58
other news this week, mainly today,
23:00
because there was the Disney Upfronts
23:02
over in New York City. Yeah,
23:04
>> and we learned that Vision Quest will be
23:06
coming out, I believe, on October 14th
23:08
without looking at my notes. And we are
23:11
going to see the third and final chapter
23:15
of the trilogy of series that started
23:17
with Wanda Vision, continued with Agatha
23:20
all along, and will end with Vision
23:22
Quest. Why?
23:24
>> Just a really funny way to like
23:26
>> That's what it is though.
23:27
>> Oh, I know. I 100%.
23:29
>> Yeah.
23:29
>> But it's it's also just funny to me.
23:31
>> I'm also curious how it's all going to
23:33
interlink
23:34
>> the ship of Thesus
23:36
>> cuz it kind of makes sense going from
23:37
Wision into Agatha. Correct.
23:39
>> Cuz you're like, "Okay, character
23:41
carries on whatever."
23:45
>> End of Agatha. I was like the end of
23:47
Agatha didn't well and the story of
23:49
Agatha in general didn't really
23:53
I'm curious like I I don't actually know
23:56
unless you know they circle back and
23:59
somehow they end up fighting like Vision
24:02
and Ultron or something or there's this
24:05
weird like magic versus technology thing
24:08
happening or I don't know like
24:12
there's some and like are we going to
24:14
have a surprise cameo of Wanda somehow.
24:18
>> Am I going to get more death?
24:21
>> I mean, definitely that. Oh, not
24:23
probably not. Um, I don't know.
24:26
>> I have not seen that,
24:28
>> man.
24:29
>> Anywhere in the rumors, but
24:31
>> are you excited to see this next Marvel?
24:33
Because it's been a while since we had a
24:34
new Marvel. Yeah, I was actually just
24:36
thinking when you said Agatha all along,
24:38
I was like, I really I have warm fuzzy
24:41
feelings about that show
24:42
>> and it makes me want to go back and
24:43
rewatch all of it. Oneision like I feel
24:47
like before October, you want to work
24:49
your way through all of those episodes
24:51
again cuz um they were solid and fun.
24:54
And it also made me want to go back and
24:56
reread all of Doug's articles on the
24:58
locations for all of the Wision stuff
25:00
and then be like, "Hey, Doug, maybe you
25:02
should do some more for uh, you know,
25:05
Vision Quest if they're using places
25:06
that that works."
25:09
>> Yeah, I think so. Uh, we also learned
25:11
today that Ahsoka
25:14
>> season two,
25:15
>> heard of her. Well, we had heard of her
25:17
and then she'd be kind become kind of
25:19
this distant song that we never knew if
25:22
it was going to get closer because you
25:24
heard about production, you heard things
25:26
were happening and then nothing. And
25:29
because you think it's 2023 was when
25:31
season 1 came. 2024 is when they
25:33
started.
25:34
>> It's actually so funny. When I saw the
25:36
news today that they had announced
25:37
season two, I was like, that's a typo.
25:40
Aren't we on season three? you would
25:42
think, but you know, things changed
25:44
paths, leadership, all of that stuff.
25:46
Yeah.
25:46
>> And um
25:48
>> so this is coming out sometime early
25:50
next year
25:52
>> sometime.
25:52
>> And it's going to be bigger and better
25:54
and all of that stuff. I am curious if
25:58
part of the delays along with having to
26:00
replace Ray Stevenson was
26:03
changing the bigger picture of Star Wars
26:07
to accommodate The Mandalorian and Grou
26:11
>> and Ahsoka season 2 without The
26:14
Mandalorian and Grou being a series and
26:17
being a movie instead and building
26:19
towards that big climax thing that
26:22
apparently is not happening anymore.
26:24
I don't know
26:25
>> who's to say,
26:26
>> but I do think it's going to be
26:27
something I'll be watching for when we
26:29
see the Mandalorian and Grou because I'm
26:31
going to be like, "Oh, is this is this
26:34
connecting somehow with Ahsoka season
26:36
2?"
26:36
>> Yeah.
26:37
>> And
26:38
>> because the stories are rather interlin
26:40
because they've kind of
26:42
>> It's very possible. I mean, yes.
26:43
>> We've been woven.
26:45
>> Yes. They're they're the same time.
26:47
They're
26:47
>> which I also think is part of why I
26:49
thought we already got Ahsoka season 2
26:51
because Mandalorian stuff.
26:54
>> Yeah. Like it's it's an interesting
26:56
>> I was like wait a
26:57
>> but I think that stuff was before season
26:59
one of Ahsoka.
27:00
>> Holy guacamole.
27:01
>> It's it's a one of those weird things.
27:03
Uh and then finally
27:05
the banana bowl.
27:07
>> Yeah,
27:07
>> I felt like this deserved a hat tip is
27:10
the banana bowl will be streamed
27:12
exclusively this fall. I think it's in
27:14
October also on Disney Plus.
27:18
And my question is,
27:22
having not seen one before,
27:23
>> okay,
27:24
>> what is a Banana Bowl? And do all six
27:26
teams play at the same time in one game?
27:28
Because it doesn't seem like it's a
27:30
series. It seems like it's a one game
27:33
thing where everybody goes crazy.
27:36
>> I thought it was like a a World Series,
27:39
but for
27:41
>> Yeah, I think it is. But it's
27:42
>> bananas
27:43
>> in their own Savannah banana banana ball
27:45
way.
27:45
>> Yeah. In the in the banana ball league.
27:48
>> But is it is it going to be like a
27:49
league back and forth thing or is it
27:51
going to be a
27:52
>> I will say I I am rather uneducated on
27:55
banana ball in general.
27:58
>> I'm intrigued.
27:59
>> I I do love banana ball though. I just I
28:02
couldn't tell you like the int
28:03
intricacies. I I don't know the leagues.
28:06
I I don't know like do they have an AL
28:09
versus an NL? Like are there different
28:11
rules for different leagues? Like you
28:13
know
28:14
>> I bet it's simpler than that but
28:15
>> I was kidding.
28:16
>> Okay. I was like there's only six teams
28:18
like that would
28:19
>> I was doing a bit.
28:22
>> So is it more than one game is my
28:24
question.
28:25
>> That's that's what I'm
28:26
>> Chris. Is it more than one game?
28:28
>> That's why I asked. Um I read that.
28:30
>> All right. Well, we are running out of
28:32
time, but we still have time for
28:40
comments. Comments.
28:43
That is right. We still have time for
28:45
comments, which means we can reply to
28:46
all the things Chris and everybody else
28:47
said. And one of them is, "Yes, you're
28:50
right. The last MCU show on Disney Plus
28:52
premiered last week." And it's yes. Uh I
28:57
did forget about Daredevil Born Again,
28:59
but that's also because I just haven't
29:00
watched that one. It's a little bit more
29:02
on the violent end for me and I don't
29:04
care for that anymore.
29:05
>> I've never watched Daredevil.
29:06
>> Um I tried to watch it on Netflix the
29:08
first time around and I got in I think
29:11
halfway through the first season and I
29:13
was just like this is not
29:15
>> making me happy or building me up and
29:17
I'm like the story was good, the acting
29:19
was good. Like it's very well done to
29:23
me. It doesn't feel Disney
29:25
>> like and and it it is that kind of weird
29:28
question mark of
29:31
>> what is the definition of Disney? And if
29:32
you asked Bob Iger a year or so ago,
29:35
he's like who's their target audience?
29:38
He said everybody.
29:39
>> And um and so in that term, yes, it is
29:43
Disney. But it's not more of the
29:45
traditional Disney where I'm like, yeah,
29:47
I'd rather keep it not quite as as
29:51
intense. Um,
29:55
I'm still waiting for an answer on the
29:56
playoff. So, you know, uh, Caleb is very
30:00
happy that Disney Channel's Camp Rock 3
30:02
is coming to Disney Channel and Disney
30:04
Plus in August. I think it is going to
30:05
be a blast. And, um, I will be curious
30:09
to see how many watch parties are held
30:11
by D23 and and Disney Plus and all
30:15
these, you know, because they've been
30:16
doing that. I'm like, I could see that
30:18
being fun. Um, and how they do it now.
30:21
I I do love Camp Rock. So, I I do wonder
30:24
if it's going to have the same magic.
30:25
>> So, maybe Katie will write the review
30:27
for that.
30:27
>> I do wonder if it's going to have the
30:29
same magic of the first two, but you
30:32
know,
30:32
>> who knows?
30:33
>> Who's going to say?
30:34
>> Uh, should Riot and the Last Dragon one
30:37
day become a liveaction adaptation, and
30:39
if so, who should play them? Not a clue.
30:42
Uh,
30:44
personally, I would prefer in general
30:48
original stories for everybody.
30:50
>> Yes. And I don't necessarily need
30:52
liveaction re or adaptations of
30:55
everything, especially the newer movies.
30:58
I kind of get the argument to be made of
31:00
like, oh, these movies are 50, 60, 70
31:02
years old or more. Um, let's reintroduce
31:07
them to a younger audience and keep the
31:09
characters vi vibrant and alive. I kind
31:11
of understand that. Um, I'm not sure I
31:14
understand the newer movies being re
31:18
adapted to live action so quickly
31:20
because I think they're still popular
31:23
now. Like, why why do you need to redo
31:25
them now? Like, I don't I don't know. I
31:27
would almost prefer seeing something
31:29
>> from Broadway adapted or, you know, like
31:31
whatever. Thoughts?
31:33
>> Yeah. I I'm not much of a remake person,
31:36
especially right now with the uh Moana
31:39
remake.
31:40
>> I think that one's really quick. Like
31:42
that one seems really quick and I I get
31:44
it because I'm sure Dwayne Johnson is
31:47
like I want to do this while I can still
31:48
do it. So I like that part of it. But um
31:52
yeah, it's interesting. Uh apparently a
31:54
four seed game. So one game winner move.
31:57
Okay, that's fun.
31:59
>> Huh.
31:59
>> And yes, I did see eBay turn down the
32:02
GameSpot uh buyout thing.
32:05
>> Signed by the eBay chairman of the
32:07
board, Paul Presler. This feels like
32:11
this moment. This feels
32:13
>> Are you saying this is why not so
32:15
magical markup works?
32:16
>> Yeah.
32:17
>> This is such a weird coincidence.
32:20
>> But this feels like
32:22
this feel this feels like the issue I
32:24
sometimes have with Star Wars and I made
32:26
this joke to Y um where sometimes it
32:28
feels like you have to have all this
32:29
like prior knowledge because they're
32:31
like, "Oh, you don't remember her? Luke
32:34
Skywalker's babysitter in one comic."
32:37
Like gh. But this feels like that. Like,
32:41
oh yeah, signed by the chairman,
32:44
Paul Pressler. And if you have no idea
32:47
who that is, you go, clearly I'm
32:49
supposed to know who that is. And if you
32:51
do know who that is, your mind is blown.
32:54
Paul Presler is the guy that wanted to
32:56
turn Disneyland into a shopping mall.
33:00
>> Didn't he uh then try to sell Gap to
33:02
eBay?
33:06
>> Maybe not. Um Anyway, that's really
33:09
funny.
33:10
>> That's
33:11
>> That is very fascinating though.
33:13
>> Wow. That's a really good piece of lore.
33:15
>> Very good lore. Very very
33:17
>> Wow, Chris Glass. Thank you.
33:19
>> Yeah, that was that was solid.
33:21
>> Who can say if I've been changed for the
33:22
better?
33:24
>> Anyway, we're running out of time.
33:26
Katie, what should people do?
33:28
>> You should go to dabsmagic.com.
33:30
Check out all the Disney and positive
33:32
stuff as it happens. Subscribe to our
33:34
mailing list so you don't miss any of
33:36
it. Also, go to dapshq.com.
33:39
There is a post show to the show.
33:41
There's also like a lot of other stuff
33:43
like throughout the week. It's not just
33:44
a post show to the show, but currently
33:47
there's a post show to the show in like
33:48
10 minutes.
33:50
>> I have one more question.
33:51
>> Oh, okay.
33:52
>> Is the letter that was signed by eBay
33:55
chairman of the board Presler now on
33:58
eBay?
33:59
>> That was my question. How much is it
34:00
going? And how much is it going for for
34:02
the not so magical market? All right.
34:04
Uh, also make sure to subscribe to our
34:06
YouTube channel. You never know what's
34:07
going to happen over there. We've got a
34:09
ton of videos still going up from the
34:11
Disney Wonder and the Disney Destiny and
34:15
Japan and, uh, I think even maybe Walt
34:18
Disney World and then there's
34:19
Disneyland. We have stuff coming up for
34:21
them, too. So, um, in fact, hopefully
34:24
something new very quick. But, uh,
34:26
anyway, make sure to subscribe over
34:28
there so you don't miss any of the fun.
34:30
But that is all the time we have for you
34:31
this week. So, we will see you around
34:33
the corner. Bye.
