welcome to Geeks corner I'm Mr daps I'm Katie and we're so excited you're here on a non-rainy night in Southern

California supposed to be rainy but it's coming supposedly we will see we hope

it's coming what should people do Katie you should go into the chat and you should tell us what movie you are looking forward to the most this year at

this moment your answer can change in the future that's allowed okay I think

my one that I'm looking forward to the most right now is currently Fantastic 4 okay shocking because I have been

somebody that does not cared about Marvel since the end of phase 4 I'm also very intrigued by Superman oh that does

not surprise me like that one looks like an interesting take on it it'll be fun to see how uh this reboot I guess you

could say goes for Superman yeah and I like all the old ones and I think it'll

be fun to see I haven't been into the new ones as much like I felt like they got lost a little bit along the way cuz

I think Superman should be just like a good guy that stands for truth and right

and that kind of stuff and I don't like it when they get all dark and Moody and whatever I'm like no just let Superman

be Superman it'll be fine um yeah we saw Elio First Steps in there

that's I think will be interesting um I agree with you Fantastic 4 looks like

it's going to be good we'll talk a little bit more about that in a bit Hopper this year I don't remember is that next year I don't

remember I don't know I don't know either we'll see um what is this year is Hong Kong Disneyland later this year is

going to be kicking off its 20th anniversary celebration and and it is

going to be the most magical party of all I had to make sure I got that right

but it's the most magical party of all um yeah but there's going to be a new

momentus which is their nighttime Castle projection drone show uh there's a new

parade there's character costumes there's a new stage show show in front of the castle and uh then the whole park

will be decorated as well and when I was reading and writing this story this

morning I had two thoughts pop into my head first off how the heck is it already been 20 years um that Hong Kong

Disneyland has been open because I remember after Disneyland's 50th Bob

Iger and Michael Eisner bolted out to open Hong Kong Disneyland I think in

September um and it was kind of like Michael eisner's last harra before he was gone and uh so that's kind of weird

and then two I'm just curious how they came up with the most magical party of all is the name I'm looking up what

month it actually opened I think it was September um that's actually what's very

funny to me you know what's also very funny to me is that wow excellent work

um do you know the day um 12 yeah yeah excellent work Mr D

it was a big deal like because there really hadn't been something like that that had happened in quite some time

yeah so to me even though it was a much smaller Park Hong Kong Disneyland opening was almost a bigger deal than

Shanghai Disneyland because that was you know a decade or so later a little bit more than that but um uh but yeah I

remember Hong Kong Disneyland was just kind of this weird and the fact that like Main Street was almost carbon copy

same with the castle like it was just one of those weird like um that really intrigued you and it was kind of one of

the first times you could see these things actually come together on the internet yeah what I think is very funny

is that um we are nine months out or seven months out

from I can't do math don't look at me from the anniversary we are just now

getting um like what the 20th anniversary is going to be and it's starting the summer as where

the 70th we got last August six months ago

yeah like but you know like that's the big thing for this year is is the Disneyland one and um I'm just

commenting on I think it's do you think we're going to get more surprise announcements soon for Hong Kong no for Disneyland 70th

absolutely any predictions um no what I would like and whatever suei is I would

just like remember dreams come true to come back instead of Wonders Journeys yeah okay I think remember dreams come

true is the greatest nighttime uh firework show that has ever existed at the Disneyland Resort do you want the

most current version of it or opening day version so every time we say this I

really don't know the difference because there's a whole section cut out I was

um eight when the 50th started MH so I I have no consciousness so I'm okay with

the ver the shorter version yeah I think the longer version was like 18 minutes or something Roger probably could tell

us in the chat what was cut out um I feel like it was a lot of the frontier land stuff oh yeah that's s um but they

kept shannona but that is the New Frontier land section I think um but yeah it was

it was it's a solid show I agree I think remember is amazing um if I really I

know that we're already getting a new world of color for the 70th um so this is what I'm about to say is totally

fictional and just a wish list but man oh man do I wish they would say

we're bringing back World of Color original mhm and we've uh reinstalled

chernabog here he is I think I would do backflips there

you go you go I think that I would single-handedly Finance Disney

California Adventure park for their next school year there you go um going back to Hong Kong Disneyland I found it funny

the thing they keep pushing is that it's Mickey and friends and Duffy and Friends well yeah like it's not Mickey Park

Mickey Duffy and friends it's like there's a Mickey and Friends category and a Duffy and Friends category and

they repeated it several times in their press release 17 minutes I was close um all

right that is true all right this week we are starting to get glimpses of what

will be coming to the Super Bowl and no I don't mean football I mean advertisements why would we care about

football I mean I don't know why would we watch the the guys knock each other heads and throw the pig skin and all

that fun stuff um anyway one of the what they do pig skin football have

you never heard this no I have okay I just was so interested how we got to where we are right now well cuz the

Muppets are appearing in a Booking.com Super Bowl commercial and that's how we got there cuz it's not about the Super

Bowl it's about the Muppets it's always about the Muppets um I really need to get that little uh clip in the let's

talk Muppets we yeah oh it's not in it's not on this program no I just realized

that just now but um so we've seen the main commercial and a variation or two

of it but I think there's going to be multiple of them from what I've heard and um I really

liked this commercial cuz they kind kind of just like captured personality

highlights that that lined up with highlights of what's going on in the commercial and it felt very normal

and fitting for everything each Muppet did like everybody in this made sense

were true to their character and it was amusing like you've got Kermit playing

the banjo great on the beach very sweet you've got uh animal Digging Up Sand

looking for was it shells or muscles or something and throwing sand towards Miss Piggy and Miss Piggy not wanting to be

there at all like everything just naturally progressed and then you've got

um Waldorf and Statler or Statler and Waldorf um complaining about uh not

wanting to go on the vacation which they're like oh great because you can cancel it and then um I think it's also

Gonzo at the end does like a rocket thing off and yells yeah which is is part of their slogan and um I wish for

that what 30 seconds they could take the lessons of that and just run with that for anything else they do like stay true

to the characters have fun do it I was going to say I actually think that um this has been the most accurate

representation of the characters that we've seen like five years in many ways yeah and yes I love Muppets ABC more

than like any real human possibly can love that show MH I still think there's

a better character depiction um it's it's succinct it's smart it's

very like perfect in every way for the Muppets and I thought it was great I

feel like it's not overthought out they're letting the Muppets be the Muppets like I almost feel like it's

just somebody was a fan at booking.com and literally without giving it a ton of thought just wrote out the script very

organically and naturally and that's what you got and and that's like because it wasn't

thought out too much it's great it makes sense and it's great and everybody like fits like it's just like

oh okay this is great um so my question is what should they do

next so we we've seen them up it's in a verbo commercial we've seen them in the it doesn't necessarily have to be a

commercial I know I was just saying natural progression of commercials is like do they do an Airbnb commercial

next um cuz they did verbo um you know and that one Kermit sang in

mhm I don't know I

want like which one would in a business Sam Ash or Guitar

Center uh Sam Ash I want the Muppets in a Guitar Center

commercial because you could have all of Dr teeth and the Electric Mayhem

you can have Kermit with his

banjo yeah that's it okay you just want another commercial yeah so you don't want another show you don't want an

attraction not until they can get things right for sure true true like I need them to be so locked in to these

characters that there is no possibility of something going astray that's that's true because things like this show me

that there is like well I thought Muppets Mayhem did too but that was going aside like that

wasn't taking the core group it was taking aside and I think that would be like to me I think it would be very

funny if they took a modern take on like MythBusters but with bunson but with

bunson and honeydew and or Beaker and um and like take cuz Sesame Street does

this super well where they take something that's already popular and beloved and they parody it so fast and

it's always amazing especially if Grover is in it like it's almost guaranteed if you have Grover in it it's G to be good

and um yeah oh so you're saying you want to make uh no they have done this on Sesame oh okay I thought you were yeah

with um Oscar the Grouch and his scram sign that looks like believe there you go I don't know I don't think I've seen

that one I'll have to look it up um but I'm like the possibility is out there

and the performers are out there I I just think maybe in some ways you

try less hard and you let it go more emotion driven and Instinct driven and

fun driven and then you can make it happen um but I think if I were in charge of Muppet studio I would start

throwing in a lot more parody and a lot more of those fun random like oh this

just happened what can we whip up really fast that's goofy you know or maybe it's

uh Waldorf and Statler doing commentary on the Oscar red carpet like like that

would work it would work yes like it would work very well and you'd have to just let them go and hope it all works

but um because you couldn't script this out and I think that's a part that you have to keep in mind is is sometimes you

just have to let things go organically and that would be very fun um and then

with them commenting you could have like Gonzo and Kermit being the on the line

interviewers like people would love that I certainly would like I'd prefer I think in some ways Gonzo and maybe fozy

actually now that I'm thinking about this and then you wouldn't put Piggy on the red carpet no cuz she'd want to be the center of

everything like she has to be on the red carpet not interviewing people on the red carpet that wouldn't work like she

would never go for that um because she has to be center of attention maybe it's her trying to get on the red carpet the

whole night that's exactly the B was that's the that's the bit um but no I

think there's things like where you could throw them in and just kind of Let It Go and it would work um like didn't

they use Kermit the Frog for one of the Pirates of the Caribbean um red carpets at Disneyland and that was really fun

and I think he was like he was dressed as a pirate and like interviewing people or something I don't remember completely I vaguely remember this in the back of

my head um I think it was the second Pirates movie well atw world z is the one that had the premiere at um a couple

of them did Disneyland I think there was two of them that did um but but uh no I

think you could do I think you could do some really fun stuff with that and lean

into their personalities let the uh Muppet performers be them just go for it

um yeah you could even have a retro Statler and wardor Waldorf doing cisal and Ebert movie reviews totally makes

sense um like that would I think it'd be hilarious or you could even have like uh

Beaker in uh bun and like doing uh fashion guides at the beginning or

something you know like something completely out of pocket um anyway I think there's a lot of these random

things you could just throw them into and it would be a lot of fun and they should do it also think I might be in

the minority here I would not like to see them take over Hall of Presidents I

would like to see them get something more original and at Disneyland

so they'll take over Lincoln oh no Walt yeah uh Kermit's gonna wear a gray suit

with the black tie and the little uh Smoke Tree Ranch everybody got really mad about the wall animatronic and it

turns out it was Kermit the whole time it was Kermit the that' actually be pretty cool though it's like a Kermit

something um but where I would actually if I were going to put them up at

Disneyland today and I didn't want to spend like it'll still be a lot of money but not a ton ton of money on real

estate M you go to Tomorrowland you put the Electric Mayhem

in that theater the magic ey theater and you do a concert and everything goes

wrong and then they finally get it together at the end and they have their big number and you're over can I ask a

question yeah how is that tomorrow land well they used to do concerts there

how was it ever Tomorrowland I'm just going back oh they could be bringing back um what was the band that they did

the the um you going to say halix halix they're coming in as as the new version

of halix there's your there's your backstory I was like give me a backstory and totally on board

yes or strange pork there you go you could do that you

could do that in there too um I just think that Muppet Show and The Golden Horseshoe would also work just because

tomorrow land has always been the catchall doesn't mean Tomorrowland should continue to be the catchall golden hor show review Muppet version

that would be hilar I actually like that even better and Miss Piggy is a saloon girl and they have the boxes up above

for Stadler and Waldorf on one side true and bean bunny could be in the other one perfect there we go it's all figured out

all right it has been a big week for M for Muppets for movies this week we've

got our first look at uh or first trailer for fantastic for first steps

and uh we've seen it what were your first thoughts of this trailer oh this

is gonna be good that was my first literally watching it in bed and I was

like oh boy it's going to be good yeah I love though like it's not a secret I

love retro futurism it's literally like some of my favorite things it's why I

love the Fallout franchise so much because pre-war Fallout is always retr

futurism which I think is super fun um and so that's really why I'm excited about this and it's combining my other

love space and final frer I think it's interesting too is I love the look and

the vibe like you're almost captured with it immediately like it's it it

hooks you right away do you know who's doing it who director

who really Matt shakan shakman shakan yeah uh as a marker mat anyway it's it's

the W division guy and W division but it makes sense when you look at the early

episodes of w Division and this like he knows how to make this happen and you can see why um they were talking for him

for Star Trek too because if you were going to go back and do like an older Star Trek that you were trying to

like once again make retro futuristic kind of like the original series he's

he's very good at this um I'm excited also because another person that's very

good at retro futuristic is Michael jaino which I think the music for this

will probably be a blast and that it's it's going to be very um I mean it's

going to be perfect for this like I think this is just up his alley and uh I'm looking forward to seeing that um on

how they were thrown off about the things voice that actually is currently my favorite set of memes is um because

the guy from or the guy who's playing the thing is from the bear and so that's actually been my

favorite like bit lately where they've been cross they've been seen those yeah

and like then watching the trailer again it's like when he tastes the sauce I just wanted him to be like

cousin which sorry ity because that show takes place in Chicago um

Herby the Droid I feel like her's evil it's possible because but I also just

love listen like the aesthetic and how he looks call me D Jaren the way I don't

trust droids cuz um I literally when the

Droid went I was like oh the droid's going to kill him um but I would love if

we could get the um what were they called the ones in Galaxy's Edge little droids yeah the bdx

the yes the bdx you want to see an animatronic yes I do too unless he's evil then I don't want to see so would

that go in tomorrow land then because to me I'm going to throw something at you this is what Tomorrowland should look

like I agree like that's I actually think it should go there but I don't

love IP in Tomorrowland yeah get rid of Star

Tours um there's my hot take of the day Star Tours becomes Fantastic Four so I

just said I want Star Tours gone CU it's an IP and then you just said becomes fantastic yeah I'm I'm pragmatic okay I

I think there's yeah because a Tomorrowland redo is totally happening let's be realistic

here I think if this movie does well it would be a wise thing to do to take this

look mix it with The Incredibles like you've got all of these things that kind of fit the Retro retrofuturism that

looks awesome and will look awesome in 20 years and you don't even have to have a

fantastic for attraction like you could just go with the look sure totally fine with that are you talking about getting

rid of um finding an Nemo then yes okay and

well depending on how they work with it you 100% can keep fighting Nemo what

about Space Mountain Space Mountain yeah you can work with it okay um I think what about buzz buzz

goes so Buzz becomes the new Fantastic Four traction pew pew Buzz goes people

mover track goes because it can't be fixed MH um if or spend the money and

replace it like fix it it can be fixed if the infrastructure can be fixed bring

back people mover mhm I think put Astro Orbiter where it is at Magic

Kingdom put it on the platform okay cuz I hate AST Orbiter in the front there so back where kind of where it used to be

yes um and you can even touch St Trader I'll

I'll allow it I will um you might not have to that much though like with retr

futurism you could make that work there's a lot of things that you can make work in the current iteration and I

actually feel like with a retro futurism look like they have in this movie it wouldn't be the hugest project ever I

also just think every time I start talking about the Tomorrowland like my dreams what actually is my dream is kind

of like the first iteration of Tomorrowland because that was retrofuturistic without trying yeah um

like obviously wouldn't age well but the Monsanto House of the future vary that type of vibe um thatd be cool but what

upsets me and I'm so sorry this is like a Geeks Corner plus discussion but I'm doing it on the main show you're welcome

um we talk about the Tomorrowland redo and there's part of me in my heart that

wants nothing to do with any of this because the Mary Blair murals are gone what if they brought them back but

they can't you and I both know that well you could you could make new one like it wouldn't be her be like you could use

her design I don't know I don't think that would actually it would work I think it'd be nice I'm sure that there

is maybe a quarter of the mural that's saved take it and run with it one of them um

anyway I think it'd be a fun idea I also think it would bring movement to the land which is desperately needed

Adventure space like that's my concern actually with getting rid of the trolley in uh in uh Disney California Adventure

is movement really makes things more interesting and keeps you engaged in the experience of the park and brings it to

life yes kinetic energy stay with me folks so um ktic yes so I would just

like to see more things happening like that even if you can't touch them like I love in the wonderful world of sweets in

the window they have the little train moving back and forth like it's just something interesting to move and on the wall they've got like um the small world

spinning and uh like there's things happening that keep you uh looking around and wondering what else you're

going to find and I think that's just such a wonderful thing for Disney to do all right next trailer came out

today Jurassic world rebirth they're going back to the origins of Jurassic

Park to save Humanity kind of apparently three really big dinosaurs have

something in their DNA that can make mankind better

something which is a dino DNA um which is interesting because this was one of

the plot lines that was rumored for one of the previous Jurassic World um uh

movies a couple years ago and I can't remember if was Dominion or the one before but uh there was that discussion

of like being able to yes keelboats would be great um but there was a discussion about going back in using

some sort of Dino DNA for medical purposes and I don't I think it was

weaponizing it in that case though um when will they learn genuine question

when will they learn this time Scarlett Johansson gets to live her lifelong dream of being in a Jurassic world movie

or Jurassic Park movie so if for no other reason that could be

worth watching what did you think of the trailer though I thought the first Jurassic Park was Isa nublar or is that

Jurassic world well this is not so this is not the first Jurassic Park it's one

of the secret research facilities when they said oh we're going back to no what they mean by

going back to the beginning is they're going back to where the dinosaurs were created so it's one of the secret Labs

on another Island how many because they keep finding more how many gosh darn secret labs are there Mr Hammond was

very uh they were clever girl they weren't good at keeping secrets and

there's Raptors back I'm sure there's a T-Rex back of some sort but they're mutant dinosaurs because they were too

dangerous to take to the actual Park which is saying something that somebody

had the mind to go these things are too dangerous for the Park yeah we all saw Jurassic Park anyway uh the T-Rex is

back I think it's the thing that was chasing them underwater okay it was like trying to bite at them I couldn't tell if that was

a T-rex or if that was a mutant T-Rex like cuz they kind of who knows seem to

indicate that all of these things are mutants well I think they're all mutant they're similar but different the T-Rex made it to Jurassic

Park yeah so it has to be a weird has to be a weird mutant yeah um I think the water ones are really scary yeah um I'm

also dinosaurs unlock like a primal thing in me they are so

scary um and I genuinely felt fear in my heart

watching this I feel more fear watching things like this than I do scary movies

cuz scary movies I'm like it's not real it can't hurt me and just to add to it

no there's a family that their boat got lost and so

they end up lost on the Island and they're with Scarlett Johansson and her team so like there is a part where

they're on the boat and they're getting circled by those those dinosaurs in the water and you could see the families on

the boat with them so clearly they've met up by that point but um anyway I

think that they've said that Jonathan Bailey's character has like a secret

history but it's totally it has to be the kid from the dig site at the

beginning of Jurassic Park he is connected to Dr Grant one way or another so it has like in my opinion has to be

that kid the Raptor kid the kid at the beginning of Jurassic Park the one

that's like that's not so scary okay yeah the one that's like at the dig site there also was speculation amongst some

friends the other night that perhaps um it's the Hammond kids and they've

changed their names or something I don't actually know that that's as plausible with what we saw today in names we've

got but you never know it's possible um or it could be the's like the family is

one of them or something I don't know um no I like that idea because they are they do say he is connected to Dr Grant

one way or the other um my question is and we should really have made a list of all of the known characters so far and

we should have made a a a dino lunch list welcome to Geeks Corner plus and um

and seeing who like who do we think will make it through

the movie because I Feel Like Scarlett Johansson's gonna make it Jonathan Bailey has to make it Jonathan Bailey's

gonna make it the third guy that already's there and says you're too dumb like nobody's dumb enough to go there I

feel like he's going to make it but probably be mauled because he does the whole um the whole uh fire thing that

reminded me of Malcolm yeah and I was like oh but maybe he dies because of it like maybe he dies I don't know we'll

see it'll be fun to see I'm looking forward to this movie um sometimes you remind me of Wendy Williams just in the

way you were like maybe he dies like it was you never know um you don't even know who Wendy Williams is and I love

you for that good um anyway two thumbs up I'm looking forward to both of these movies yeah like they're going to be fun

and I they're both ones I want to see in the theater CU Jurassic movies in the

theater are terrifying the last uh Jurassic movie I saw in theaters was Jurassic world no I saw Dominion with

you but the last truly terrifying one I saw in theaters was Jurassic world and I

was so scared I was mad at every single person that wanted me there um that was

uh I was GNA say that was when I was still at Starbucks I literally am still at Starbucks if you have any questions

was when I was a chef supervisor at Starbucks and so it was like a store outing type of thing because I could do that back then and everybody was like

we'll go see Jurassic world that'll be fun and I was like this it will be fun they said the dinosaurs will be cute

they said no I think oh that reminds me though and I'm forgetting the name of the dinosaur but it's the one that spits

acid the in Jurassic Park there's big ones yeah and no there's a little well

it's bigger but it's not massive and it looked like it was about to spit on one of the kids and I was like oh that's bad

like they're I feel like they're going for the jugular on everything you ever have been scared about with Jurassic

Park and Jurassic for what could have happened they're like oh yeah we're going there this time yeah so the

interes the outing either directly before or directly after the Jurassic world one I think it was one directly before was inside out much more

pleasant fair I'm scar I'm scared of Jurassic Park I'm scared of Jurassic

World Jurassic Park is still by far the best Jurassic world Dominion did not scare me Jurassic world Dominion was not the

strongest I was not scared I was not gagged well it was kind of a bunch of

gimmicks and they were a bit predictable and I also don't love the crisp rat don't love him okay

I'm sry I don't know I think he's fine I like I literally on the Geeks Corner

pre-show patreon.com daps magic um was singing the hour in the P so like it's

not that I just don't like him it's that I can't take him seriously in dramatic roles hm I

think I don't think he's ever completely serious though yeah but Jurassic world was a more serious tone than Parks and

Recreation I thought he was best in the first one actually everything was best in the first Jurassic world film even

though it was kind of just a redo of Jurassic Park but all right we are
