A fifth Halloweentown movie is being worked on for potential airing on Disney Channel and Disney+. The Wrap reported this week that the film is being written before hopefully being greenlit by Disney executives to add to the franchise.
There isn’t a ton known about this film at this point, including plot details. What is known is that the new movie is being written by Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn. It will be based on characters by Paul Bernbaum, the writer of the original Halloweentown movie in 1998. There are no known casting choices at this point either. However, multiple cast members who were in the original movies have shown interest in returning to their roles.
Houghton was the writer for the 2026 comedic horror film Forbidden Fruits. Koehn was a writer on HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot. He was also one of the writers for 2017’s The Mad Whale.

The original Halloweentown film was released in 1998. It followed a 13-year-old Marnie Piper as she discovered that she was part of a family of witches. To keep her powers from disappearing forever, she had to train in magic. She was portrayed by Kimberly J. Brown. Brown continued to play the role in the next two films, Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge and Halloweentown High. In the fourth film, Return to Halloweentown, Sara Paxton took over the role of Marnie Piper.
