The Mad Tea Party at Disneyland Closes for Extended Refurbishment

The Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland at Disneyland is now closed. This is part of a planned extended refurbishment for the beloved attraction that was inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Alice in Wonderland. While the attraction was open on Sunday for guests to enjoy spinning around The Happiest Place on Earth, on Monday it was surrounded by walls.

Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by Disneyland on Monday morning and took the following photos and video of what guests are seeing when they walk up to where the Mad Tea Party normally spins the day away. There are some fun themed signs attached to the walls. Noticeably absent is the teacup version of A Very Merry Unbirthday.

At this time, the reopening date for Mad Tea Party isn’t known. There have been plenty of walls seen around the Disneyland Resort recently as things get polished and refurbished. Daps Magic will monitor the progress being made on these attractions and other offerings and provide updates as they become available. Here is a video of the Mad Tea Party:

Mad Tea Party Official Description

Pour yourself into an oversized teacup and spin through a whimsical party.

Take a Twirl in a Teacup

Celebrate your unbirthday with a wild whirl through Wonderland. Madcap music fills the air as you rotate below a canopy of colorful lanterns.

Inspired by the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Walt Disney’s animated classic Alice in Wonderland, this timeless attraction features the same resplendent colors and objects of disproportionate size.

It’s an exuberant swirl-a-bration—and you’re the Guest of honor!

Spinning Not Your Cup of Tea?

A wheel in the center of the teacup lets you control the direction and speed of your spin. If you decide you want a wild ride, simply turn the wheel fast and hold on. If you want a gentler ride, you may opt to not turn the wheel at all.

Please be aware that although you can control the spinning, your teacup automatically tosses and turns on the platform deck.
