On this day in 2001, Disney’s U.S. resorts modified operations following the morning terrorist attacks. All four Walt Disney World parks closed early, with cast members forming human chains to gently usher guests toward the exits. The Disneyland Resort never opened due to the time difference. The resorts on both coasts waived charges for rooms, park tickets, meals, and phone calls for those who could not return home during the national airspace shutdown. The movie theater at Downtown Disney Anaheim showed free Disney films to entertain stranded guests. [25 years ago in 2026]
