Lightning McQueen Day is September 5 (9/5). Ahead of the big day and the 20th anniversary of Disney and Pixar’s Cars, Lightning McQueen has made his way to Italy to appear at the Formula 1 Gran Premio d’Italia 2026. The Piston Cup champ received a special invitation from longtime rival Francesco Bernoulli and will serve as the race weekend’s official support vehicle. The Formula 1 Gran Premio d’Italia 2026 takes place from September 4-6 in Monza. Lightning McQueen continues to bring more Pixar magic to one of motorsport’s most iconic destinations.
As part of the celebration of 20 years of Cars while in Monza, Lightning McQueen will debut an all-new look inspired by the Disney x Formula 1 collaboration. This will come as fans around the world gather for one of the most legendary weekends on the racing calendar.
Disney and Pixar’s Cars Collection with Formula 1
For those who are at the big race in Monza, there will be a chance to shop the Disney and Pixar’s Cars Collection with Formula 1 throughout the weekend. This collection is inspired by Lightning McQueen and friends. It includes apparel, accessories, and collectibles. There are also die-cast vehicles from Mattel. For those who aren’t in Italy, select items will also be available online at Disney Store and the Formula 1 Official Online Store.
More Pixar Around the Circuit
There are other exciting things from the world of Pixar’s Cars to look forward to around the circuit as well. There will be a special Cars-inspired makeover of the Mercedes-AMG Official FIA Safety Car. This will debut exclusively for race weekend. It will be a must-see for fans of both Cars and Formula 1.
Throughout the fan zone, there will also be Cars-inspired experiences to be found. This includes a Marvel activation that will bring the world of Radiator Springs to life. On top of that, there will be a special screening of Disney and Pixar’s Cars during the race weekend as part of the film’s 20th anniversary celebration. Monza is looking to be quite the weekend for fans of Cars new and old. Even more special is that it is all taking place during the Lightning McQueen Day celebration, coupled with the 20th anniversary of this beloved film.
