The Muppets Musical History with Seth McFarlane was one of the many panels that were presented at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. This one, perhaps the most adult, had Seth MacFarlane taking to the stage to talk about his new album of Muppet music. The album is called Seth MacFarlane Sings The Muppets. The panel was hosted by Leonard Maltin and his daughter Jessie Maltin. They were joined by Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams for this celebration of the music of the universe that Jim Henson created.

Throughout the course of this hour-long panel, quite a few exciting stories were shared and topics discussed. This includes:

• The Origin of Rainbow Connection: Paul Williams shares how a shift in perspective turned an early draft into this timeless anthem of hope and belief.
• Jim Henson’s Genius: A look back at how Henson reimagined I’m Going to Go Back There Someday for Gonzo in The Muppet Movie.
• Crafting the Sound: Seth MacFarlane breaks down recording live at Skywalker Ranch to recreate the sweeping 1940s and 50s orchestral arrangements.
• Behind-the-Scenes Stories: Personal memories from the set of Sesame Street, early radio influences, and guest-starring on The Muppet Show.
