The Disneyland Resort is moving forward with one of the major components of DisneylandForward. Today, it was announced that ground has been officially broken on a new parking structure and transportation hub that will transform the process of arrival for guests. This took place this morning during a special moment at the future home of the new parking lot.
On hand for the groundbreaking were Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino, Walt Disney Imagineers, including Executive Architect Jonathan Peters, Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken, Anaheim City Council Members, and leaders from McCarthy Building Companies, Granite Construction and The Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council.
“Today’s groundbreaking marks an exciting milestone for Disneyland Resort and the City of Anaheim,” said Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino. “This new parking structure and transportation hub will transform how guests arrive, creating a more seamless experience from the start of their day, while improving traffic flow throughout the resort area. We’re proud to continue investing in Anaheim, supporting local jobs and working alongside valued community and construction partners to bring this vision to life.”
With the ground being broken on this new project, the Disneyland Resort takes a major step forward into the future. When completed, this new parking structure and transportation hub (on the east side of Disneyland Resort) will provide over 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle, and ride-share areas. There will also be dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way. This will improve both parking and traffic flow around the resort area.
The Disneyland Resort expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue their ongoing investment in the City of Anaheim as the construction got underway. This will lead to the creation of additional jobs as Disney works closely with trusted local businesses and collaborators to bring the dream of this new parking structure and transportation hub to reality.
When completed, this will offer a smoother arrival process for guests coming to The Happiest Place on Earth! Along with the new transportation hub and parking structure, a bridge will allow guests to walk over into a reimagined esplanade entrance as they head into the parks and Downtown Disney District.
