Asteria – A Storyliving by Disney Community is being built in North Carolina. It is the second Storyliving by Disney community, with the first, Cotino, in Rancho Mirage, California. For those who have been following Daps Magic’s coverage of Storyliving by Disney, it is easy to see that Disney is all in on the details in these communities. Great care is taken to bring Disney magic to these communities in subtle yet magical ways. The results are places to live that celebrate Disney magic, natural surroundings, and a culture of creativity.
For Asteria (just like Cotino), the story begins the moment residents enter the community. Today, Storyliving by Disney shared a first look at what this entrance will look like. In this case, the residents will find themselves welcomed with an entryway that is inspired by the Carolina landscape and accompanied by a touch of Disney storytelling.

As is the case with all Storyliving by Disney communities, the Asteria entryway is designed with the creative guidance of Walt Disney Imagineering. The goal is to reflect the natural beauty and character of North Carolina’s Piedmont region.
The natural landscape helps set the stage with topography that will rise just beyond the entry. It will then gently fall, which creates a subtle reveal. It will utilize stone that is sourced directly from the site. Metavolcanic rock, quartz, and rhyolite will all be incorporated into the entryway design. This entryway will be built in the regional tradition of dry stacking. Doing this building style with these local materials will help connect the entryway with the land that inspired it.
A moon gate, which is an arched gateway that frames the land beyond, will be one of the entrance’s signature elements. This will make for a memorable moment as residents arrive and see what lies inside Asteria.
The attention to detail won’t stop at the entrance. It will continue throughout Asteria. Landscape, architecture, and community gathering spaces are being designed in a way that encourages exploration and connection with a little Disney magic.
Throughout the community, residents will find design details and shared spaces that highlight the natural setting around them and encourage moments of discovery every day.
