Summer time is a great time to watch movies! This summer, Disney has quite a few movies coming out through its various studios. This includes films from Pixar Animation Studios, Disney Live Action, Searchlight Pictures, and 20th Century Studios. It comes on the heels of the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu by Lucasfilm in May. As the summer kicks off, Disney has kicked off its Disney Blockbuster Summer. This campaign celebrates Disney as the ultimate destination for summer entertainment. It brings fans together for unforgettable experiences that will last well beyond summer. The following Summer Starts Here spot was shared by Disney as the summer kicks off.
2026 is already a big year for The Walt Disney Company at the global box office. The Walt Disney Studios is the first studio this year to have surpassed $2 billion globally. This was fueled by five releases that have had strong performances. Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers delivered the biggest debut for an original animated film for Coco (2017). This highlighted the continued strength of original storytelling for the company. 20th Century Studios’ The Devil Wears Prada 2 showcased how, after two decades, audiences still wanted more Runway. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first Star Wars film to be released on the big screen and opened in the top spot globally. This theatrical release builds on the strength of The Mandalorian as Disney+’s most-watched Original. It has over 1.3 billion hours streamed globally.

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5

The first few chords of a song by Disney Legend Randy Newman. An iconic blue-sky wallpaper filled with clouds. A cowboy and a space ranger whose friendship defined a generation.
For more than 30 years, Toy Story has remained one of Disney and Pixar’s most beloved franchises — and this summer, Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Disney Legend Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and the rest of the gang return for an all-new adventure that explores what happens when Toy meets Tech.
In Toy Story 5, Bonnie’s world is flipped upside down by her Lilypad (Greta Lee), a tablet device with its own ideas about what kids need most.
A new roster of voice talent includes Craig Robinson, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Shelby Rabara, Matty Matheson, Conan O’Brien, and Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny). Directed by Academy Award® winner Andrew Stanton and featuring a new score by Newman, Toy Story 5 continues Pixar’s lasting legacy of blending heart, humor, and emotional storytelling for fans across generations. The film will also include a brand-new original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” by 14-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Taylor Swift.
