On April 29, 2026, the timeline for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland was expanded. This expansion saw the arrival of more characters, props, changes to stores/shops/merchandise, and the addition of classic Star Wars musical themes that were written by John Williams. With the expansion, there are now three timelines that are a part of Batuu. They include:
- Galactic Civil War – The era of the war between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. This is where guests will find Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and his Imperial Stormtroopers. Expect the Rebels to be found near the Millennium Falcon and Darth Vader with his Stormtroopers near the TIE Echelon. This could lead to some conflict as Darth Vader and his Imperial Stormtroopers seek out the Rebels and, more specifically, Luke Skywalker. Luke may be wandering around a bit more in this area of the land and may be found near Savi’s Workshop.
- New Republic – This is the era that is commonly referred to as the “Mandoverse.” Guests will find Ahsoka Tano and the Mandalorian himself with Grogu. This era will be found near the Marketplace.
- Age of the Resistance – This is the era that includes the most recent movies in the Star Wars universe. It is the era of Rey, and this area in Galaxy’s Edge is where she may be found.

With the expansion of this timeline, there is a variety of characters from the Star Wars universe that can now be found when trekking around Black Spire Outpost. They include:
- Darth Vader
- Luke Skywalker
- Leia Organa
- Han Solo
- Chewbacca
- Ahsoka Tano
- The Mandalorian and Grogu
- R2-D2
- Rey
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Daps Magic team took a tour around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to document what the land is now like after the expansion of the timeline. During this tour, the team encountered characters, visited the shops, and could hear John Williams’ classic Star Wars music. Check out this tour here:
Before the timeline expansion went into effect, the Daps Magic team filmed this tour for comparison:
The changes at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge make the land more accessible for fans of all ages and depths of fandom. Some changes clearly will be more controversial (i.e., some of the merchandise choices) than others. Overall, it does bring fans into films in a way that hasn’t been done before. It may not be as accurate from a canon standpoint as it was before, but it does make people happy. As Walt Disney said in Disneyland Handcrafted, he wanted Disneyland to be a place that made people happy. This timeline expansion continues to add to that goal as it strives to make the largest number of people happy as possible.
