Bruce Broughton - Soarin' Over California

The Magic Returns: Bruce Broughton Arranges ‘Soarin’ Across America’ Score

You may not recognize the name Bruce Broughton, but most likely, you know his music. You will also soon get to hear more of it when Soarin’ Across America debuts at EPCOT on May 26th and Disney California Adventure on July 2nd. Broughton will take the iconic theme that was written by Jerry Goldsmith for Soarin’ Over California and arrange it for this newest version of the attraction. This is a role he took on when the attraction was updated a decade ago for Soarin’ Around the World.

Disney Parks

Bruce Broughton has a long history of writing music for The Walt Disney Company. He also has a lengthy resume outside of Disney, with some of his music being brought into the parks. For many years, his theme to Silverado could be heard in the area music that was played in Disneyland’s Frontierland. However, this isn’t the only music of his that has been heard in the Disney Parks. Other projects he has contributed to include:

Broughton was also the conductor for the Rhapsody in Blue sequence for Fantasia 2000 and has had compositions appear in video games that have been released by Disney. The debut of Soarin’ Across America will add to this long-running relationship between Broughton and Disney. It comes as part of Disney Celebrates America, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
