Disney Reveals Infinity Vision at CinemaCon

At CinemaCon on Thursday, The Walt Disney Studios announced a new certification for premium large format (PLF) theaters called Infinity Vision. This was done in collaboration with global theatrical exhibition partners. Infinity Vision will signify to audiences which auditoriums offer the biggest, brightest, and most immersive cinematic experiences.

Disney aims to set a new benchmark for theatrical presentation with Infinity Vision. Auditoriums will meet rigorous technical standards to be certified. This will include a focus on:

  • The largest screens for maximum scale
  • Laser projection for superior brightness and clarity
  • Premium audio formats for fully immersive sound

The goal of Infinity Vision is to help audiences identify the best theatrical experience. There are currently over 75 domestic and 300 global exhibitor PLFs available for consumers.

In September, the re-release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, followed by the December release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, audiences will be able to find Infinity Vision-certified screens to see these films on the grandest possible scale, exactly as they were intended to be seen.

This new certification of movie theaters addresses a complaint of movie theaters not having a high enough quality in their movie-going experiences. Sometimes this means darkness, lack of clarity, or less-than-stellar audio. Infinity Vision hopes to provide a certification that will help moviegoers find and recognize a high-quality movie-viewing experience.
