On this day in 1930, Clarabelle Cow first appeared in the ‘Mickey Mouse’ comic strip. Her name was first used in this “Mickey Mouse in Death Valley” story run. Clarabelle was designed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Her character was originally the “town gossip” who was a bit pretentious. Many of Clarabelle’s appearances are as a comic foil and friend to Minnie and Daisy. She has been romantically connected to both Horace Horsecollar and Goofy. [95 years ago in 2025]
