On this day in 1955, the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway signed a 5-year contract with Disney. This entitled their name to be featured on all Disneyland trains, station marquees, and literature in exchange for $50,000 per year. Disney had solicited several major railroads for corporate sponsorship, but only ASTF responded. The contract ran until 1974. It was the ASTF California Limited line that Walt Disney took from Kansas City to Los Angeles in July 1923! [70 years ago in 2025]
