The cast of the fifth season of Only Murders in the Building continues to grow. Already, it was known that Christoph Waltz and Keegan-Michael Key were a part of the cast. Now, Renée Zellweger has been announced as a part of the cast. Unsurprisingly, who her character is and what the plot details surrounding her are being kept completely quiet.
Renée Zellweger
Renée Zellweger is a fantastic actress who has one two Acadamy Awards throughout her career. One was for Cold Mountain, where she won Best Supporting Actress. The other win was for Best Actress for her role in Judy. She also has been nominated for her roles in Chicago and Bridget Jones’s Diary. She recently starred in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the fourth movie in the Bridget Jones franchise. It has already garnered over $122 million globally.
Only Murders in the Building
Only Murders in the Building comes from the creative minds of co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman. Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. The series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.
Season Four
The fourth season of Only Murders in the Building saw the podcasting sleuths head to California to make a movie. There, they also end up investigating the murder of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) who was Charles’ (Steve Martin) stunt double and friend. This led to questions about if she was the intended victim. It also led to a whole new part of the Arconia with a whole new group of inhabitants. The end of the season also ended with yet another murder at the Arconia.
Season Five
The plot of season five of the series is currently unknown. Beyond the guest stars mentioned before, it isn’t known who else will be joining the cast. The Geeks discussed who they would like to see on this week’s Geeks Corner episode. Season four saw the three main podcasters get Hollywood versions of themselves for their movie. The guest stars in these roles for their movie were Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek) as movie Charles, Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover films, Between Two Ferns) as movie Oliver, and Eva Longoria (Deadly Housewives, Flamin’ Hot) as movie Mabel. Other guest stars included Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, Lilian Rebelo, Richard Kind, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Catherine Cohen, and Jin Ha. Meryl Streep also made her return as Oliver’s love interest, Loretta Durkin.
