Ken Potrock and Thomas Mazloum

Ken Potrock Says Goodbye to Disneyland Resort

The transition of presidents has commenced at the Disneyland Resort. Earlier this year it was announced that Ken Potrock would be leaving his post as President of the Disneyland Resort. He is taking on a new role as President of The Walt Disney Company Major Events Integration. In this new role, he will be charged with maximizing the companywide value of large-scale sports, entertainment, and tourism events. This ranges from the 2027 Los Angeles Olympics to the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

Potrock arrived at the Disneyland Resort amid the pandemic in May of 2020. He has been with Disney for nearly 30 years, starting with the Disney Cruise Line in 1996. Since then, he has had many different roles at Disney. He had a stint as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Vacation Club. He also was the leader behind the reimaging and expansion of Disney Springs in 2015. As  Senior Vice President of Disney Sports Enterprises, he oversaw the rebranding of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.

This week saw posts on social media as he passed the torch to incoming President Thomas Mazloum. Mazloum comes to the Disneyland Resort from his previous role as president, New Experiences Portfolio & Disney Signature Experiences. In this position, he oversaw Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, and Adventure by Disney. This was a role he held since 2020.

Along with social media posts, Potrock also sent a letter to the community. In it, he reflected on his time at the Disneyland Resort. He shared what “an honor and privilege it has” been to work with the community to make a positive impact in the local community and all of Southern California.

Under the leadership of Potrock, the Disneyland Resort reopened in 2021. He then pivoted from reopening and returning to normal to building toward the future. A hallmark achievement of the Potrock era will be the passage of DisneylandForward. This sets a course for the Disneyland Resort and Anaheim that looks decades into the future.

Potrock also shared how in his new role he will focus on creating “opportunities out of possibilities” for all of Disney. This will also include the Disneyland Resort. He mentioned some major events that are coming up both in California and beyond. They include the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2027 Super Bowl, and the 2028 Summer Olympics. All of these happen to be in Southern California. There will also be the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. Potrock and Disney will be involved with this in one form or another.

As Ken Potrock steps into his new role, join Daps Magic in thanking him for all he has done for the Disney and the local community over the last five years. We wish him all the best moving forward!
