On this day in 1950, the Donald Duck short ‘Lion Around’ debuted. Donald’s day with his nephews begins with shenanigans when Huey, Dewey, and Louie dress up in a mountain lion costume to frighten their uncle and sneak a pie off of the windowsill. Donald sees through their trick, but doesn’t realize that there’s also a real cougar close by! ‘Lion Around’ was the first appearance of Louie the Mountain Lion, a recurring character in several shorts and TV shows.
