Kermit the Frog Serenades Hoda Kotb on Her Last Day on ‘TODAY’

Friday, January 10, 2025, was Hoda Kotb’s last day on TODAY. One of the surprises for her last day was an appearance by Kermit the Frog. Kermit stopped by and sang Rainbow Connection to Hoda. During the song, she could be seen singing along and enjoying every second. Check out the moment here:

Hoda announced that she was leaving TODAY in September. The decision was made shortly after her 60th birthday. “I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new,” Hoda said. “I remembered standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, ‘This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.’ And I thought it can’t get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on.”

She shared that she wanted to spend more time with her kids, and that appears to be exactly what she will be doing. Her kids, who were on the show with her when Kermit showed up, will be getting more mommy time and were asked if they were ready for Monday to come around with Hoda still home to take them to school.

This won’t be the end of Hoda’s career at NBC. She will continue on with the network. This will include contributing stories to TODAY. She will also be a part of TODAY’s Olympics coverage as well. On top of that, she will continue to make her podcast Making Space with Hoda Kotb. Hoda has been with NBC for almost three decades, 17 of which were with TODAY. While her role may be changing to be a mother first and broadcaster second, her roots will continue to run deep with the network.
