On this day in 1994, Planet Hollywood opened at Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort, next to Pleasure Island. It features a spherical entertainment dome, movie memorabilia, and seats for 400 diners. The restaurant was reimagined in 2017 as the Planet Hollywood Observatory with a menu curated by celebrity chef Guy Fieri. As of 2024, the Disney Springs location is one of five Planet Hollywood restaurants still in operation. [30 years ago in 2024]
