Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Disney Shares Closer Look at Island Tower Ahead of Opening at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows

The Island Tower addition to Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will be opening on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Ahead of the opening of this new tower along the Seven Seas Lagoon, Disney has shared a look at this building. This also gives a glimpse at how Moana was an inspiration for the designs found throughout.

When Disney Vacation Club Members and other guests stay at the Island Tower, they will get to experience one of the 260 new rooms, stunning interior spaces, and brand-new amenities. Below is a look at some of these!

Villas

There are different-sized villas for different sizes of groups looking to stay at this new expansion. For smaller groups, there is a cozy duo studio for two or a deluxe studio that sleeps up to four.

For those looking to travel in a larger group, the One- and two-bedroom villas are perfect as they sleep five and nine people.

There is also a new type of accommodation found in the Island Tower in the form of two-bedroom penthouse villas. These sleep up to eight guests. They include a spacious living room, dining room, and gorgeous views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom or Disne’s Oak Trail and Magnolia Golf Courses.

Terrace Gardens

There are also four tropical garden hideaways found at this new expansion. They are exclusively for guests and members who are staying at the tower. Each of these spaces will be inspired by the lush beauty of the Polynesian Island. They will also offer some incredible views of Walt Disney World Resort.

There will be two Terrace Gardens that face the Magic Kingdom and provide wonderful views of the fireworks. The other two gardens offer spectacular sunset views over Disney’s scenic golf courses.

Pool Time

The new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will add even more fun and more features to the amenities that are already beloved by guests staying at the resort. It will add to the pools, restaurants, and availability of DOLE Whips that guests already love.

The new Cove Pool area is a wonderful place for guests to unwind. It features a zero-entry swimming pool and the Moana’s Voyage splash area is a great place for little ones to play. It includes life-sized sculptures of Moana and her canoe as well. The new tower is also the home to the resort’s first and only fitness center. This will be a welcome addition to the many recreational activities that are already offered.

Wailulu Bar & Grill

The Wailulu Bar & Grill is the tower’s new casual dining venue. It draws inspiration from the rich flavor of the Polynesian islands. It has an all-day menu with signature dishes that include spiced ham musubi and beef short rib loco moco. The full food guide can be seen here.

Wailulu Bar & Grill is a great place for grabbing lunch or sitting down for dinner while also enjoying the beautiful views of the Seven Seas Lagoon. It also will be a fantastic place to watch Magic Kingdom fireworks.

The new Island Tower has nearly 1,600 resort cast members who Disney says is ready to welcome guests to the new expansion when it opens on December 17th. Some of these were even working at the Polynesian in the 1970s!
