Last week, the Disneyland Resort hosted over 100 Sailors and Marines for a magical day at The Happiest Place on Earth! The day took place on May 21st. This was a celebration of both Los Angeles Fleet Week and the 250th anniversaries of the United States Navy and the Marine Corps. This was also part of the nationwide Disney Celebrates America events that are leading up to America’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
During the special day, the service members were able to enjoy some favorite Disney attractions like the Mark Twain Riverboat and the Jungle Cruise. It was a day that built on over 100 years of support for the U.S. Armed Forces by Disney. Adding even more Disney magic was the opportunity for these service members to get a special meet-and-greet with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. They were debuting their brand-new patriotic attire. These new outfits made their debut as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

The highlight of the day was during the Patriotic Flag Retreat ceremony in Town Square at the end of Main Street, USA. There, Sailors and Mariners marched alongside one of the largest U.S. Navy bands ever to perform at Disneyland. This special ceremony honored both services’ 250 years of service. The ceremony culminated with a flyover of Disneyland Resort by U.S. Navy jet aircraft. This was a powerful moment that was beautiful and moving to all who experienced it at the Disneyland Resort.
On hand were both leaders from the military and The Walt Disney Company. This included Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum, and Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino, who were joined by U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Robert Nowakowski, Deputy Commander, Naval Education and Training Command.
The Walt Disney Company has a long history of supporting the U.S. Armed Forces. This goes back over 100-years and began with founders Walt and Roy O. Disney, who both served the USA during World War I. Since Disneyland first opened in 1955, there have been daily Flag Retreat ceremonies happening that recognize veterans and service members from across the country.
Disneyland honors military service in multiple ways, including specially priced promotional theme park tickets. These are available and active and retired U.S. Military members (and their spouses) in 2026. The offers are valid through a U.S. Military base ticket office, and eligible service members/veterans can purchase via GOVX.com with a valid Military ID.
