Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month began on September 15th and continues through October 15th. The Disneyland Resort has multiple ways that it is offering for guests to celebrate. This includes delicious food, uplifting music, exciting entertainment, and more. Below is a look at how the Disneyland Resort is celebrating Hispanic and Latin America Heritage Month.
New Disney Characters
New characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto have arrived at the Disneyland Resort. Isabela and Luisa have joined their sister Mirabel in Frontierland in Zocalo Park, just outside Rancho del Zocalo Restaurant.
Isabela appeared at Disneyland first on Sunday, September 3, 2024.
Just a couple of days later, Luisa arrived with Mirabel as well.
Entertainment
This year sees a new approach to the story of Pixar Animation Studios’ Coco for Plaza de la Familia in Disney California Adventure. The new show, The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco! is being offered daily. It is a charming new approach to the story of Miguel and his family. This show is more immersive and shares the importance of family.
During the celebration, Downtown Disney District will be offering live musical entertainment on the weekends. This includes DJs, a mariachi quartet, the Pacifico Dance Company and Son Habana.
Food
There is a variety of different celebratory food options to enjoy throughout the Disneyland Resort during Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month. Recently, the delicious food offerings were revealed (read here). This includes the new Stuffed Pan Dulce at Award Wieners and the new Torta Cubana at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. The Latina-owned food truck Vchos will offer tasty traditional Salvadoran pupusas near the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage through October 15th.
Festive Décor
Throughout the Disneyland Resort, there is festive décor to be found throughout the celebration. Be sure to stop by Disneyland and find the redesigned Emporium window on Main Street U.S.A. Over in Downtown Disney, there is a new mural titled, “Love and Traditions.” The mural helps celebrate Día de los Muertos in Hispanic and Latin American countries.
Plaza de la Familia
Along with everything that is mentioned above, the Disneyland Resort will also continue the Plaza de la Familia celebration. This is a celebration of the spirit of Día de los Muertos and draws inspiration from Pixar’s Coco. This celebration will continue through November 2, 2024.
