On this day in 1892, master voice actor, vaudeville and circus performer, cartoonist, and Disney Legend Vance DeBar “Pinto” Colvig was born. He was the original voice actor for Goofy and his predecessor Dippy Dawg, Pluto, the dwarfs Grumpy and Sleepy, Practical Pig in ‘Three Little Pigs,’ and even Bluto in ‘Popeye.’ Known as the “Dean of Hollywood Voicemen,” Colvig produced a vast array of sound effects in films and shorts from the 1930s until his passing in 1967.
