The Red Car Trolley, which debuted when Disney California Adventure was rededicated in 2012, is set to stop running through the park in 2025. Disneyland officials confirmed that “We will discontinue operation of the attraction in early 2025 and will share a specific date later this winter.”
Avengers Campus
The discontinuation of this attraction at Disney California Adventure comes ahead of the expansion of Avengers Campus, where the trolley’s track currently ends. At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, two new attractions were announced for the land. This will lead to quite a bit of construction as Avengers Campus expands. It will also disrupt the trolley services.
The two new attractions are Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. The first will have guests helping the Avengers fight King Thanos. The latter will pair guests with Avengers to test out new super hero equipment. The addition of these two attractions will lead to construction backstage that will impact the attraction and area.
More Disneyland Resort Announcements From D23
The expansion of Avengers Campus wasn’t the only thing announced for the Disneyland Resort during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. A new attraction based on Disney and Pixar’s Coco was also announced as was a new land based on Pandora from the Avatar films. A new show in the Opera House at Disneyland will also bring Walt Disney to life in Audio-Animatronic form for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.
The Red Car Trolley
The Red Car Trolley at Disney California Adventure is a lovely homage to the golden age of Los Angeles’ electric railway system. Two trolleys glide up and down Buena Vista Street and the vintage-inspired trolleys whisk guests back to the 1920s. This is where the hustle and bustle of a growing Hollywood meets the whimsical world of Disney. This is also the Hollywood that Walt Disney arrived at with his suitcase and a dream. With their bright red exterior, brass accents, and cheerful clang of the bell, the Red Car Trolleys serve as a delightful mode of transportation. The Red Car Trolleys are more than just a ride. They are a step into a vibrant chapter of California’s storied past, wrapped in the timeless enchantment that only Disney can deliver. They also have been the stage for entertainment at Disney California Adventure when the Red Car News Boys brought some musical magic to Buena Vista Street.
At this point, it isn’t known if this is the end of the line for the Red Car Trolleys or if they will be returning at a later date.
