The Red Car Trolley is returning to Disney California Adventure. It stopped running through the park in 2019 ahead of the opening of Avengers Campus. Originally, it was expected to return the following year. However, the pandemic through a wrench into all of those plans. It led to Avengers Campus opening later than originally planned. It also led to the delayed return of the attraction.
Today on the Disney Parks TikTok, the return of the Red Car Trolley this summer was teased. This will bring back a healthy dose of kinetic energy to the park. The return of the Red Car Trolley will not mean that the Red Car Trolley Newsboys will be returning, however. The OC Register confirmed this show won’t be back this summer.
The Red Car Trolley was added to Disney California Adventure in 2012 during its transformation. It is reminiscent of the Pacific Electric Railway that ran in Los Angeles from 1887 to 1961. It runs back and forth between Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land with stops at Disney California Adventure’s main entrance, Carthay Circle, the Animation Academy building, and the Hyperion Theater.
The return of this attraction marks one more step towards normalcy at the Disneyland Resort. Recently traditional meet and greets returned to the Resort. Nighttime spectaculars also returned a couple of weeks ago.
