Plaza de la Familia Returns to Honor Día de los Muertos at Disneyland Resort

There is plenty of news coming out about Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort today. This news includes updates about when Haunted Mansion will be reopening, ticket sales information for Oogie Boogie Bash, entertainment offerings, and even a look at Mickey and Minnie’s new Halloween costumes. Halloween is the only celebration that will be starting on August 23, however. Plaza de la Familia will also be returning on this date.

Plaza de la Familia is inspired by the traditions of Día de los Muertos. It brings vibrant décor, festive foods and live entertainment to Disney California Adventure throughout its run that continues until November 2, 2024. One thing that guests won’t want to miss is the “Árbol de la Vida” (Tree of Life). This has both a photo location and memory wall that really is beautiful to experience.

Inspired by the traditions of Día de los Muertos, Plaza de la Familia will bring music, vibrant décor, festive foods and exciting live entertainment to Paradise Gardens at Disney California Adventure Park, in Anaheim, Calif., from Aug. 23 through Nov. 2, 2024. Guests will be able to encounter the hand-animated figure of Miguel from Disney and Pixar’s “Coco.” (Richard Harbaugh/Disneyland Resort)

This year will also see the return of the musical celebration of Pixar’s Coco to Plaza de la Familia. This will be a musical telling of the story of this Pixar film with singer/storyteller Mateo leading the way. During the show, a puppet of Miguel himself makes an appearance. Once it has completed, guests can meet with Miguel. This year promises newly designed costumes for the show! It will be offered multiple times daily throughout the season. Below is a look at one of the performances of A Musical Celebration of Coco from last year:
