Inside Out 2 Passes $900 Million Mark at Box Office

Inside Out 2 continues to show its strength at the box office. The newest box office milestone it has passed is the $900 million mark. $429 million of that haul is from the domestic box office and $473.9 million came from the international. It is expected that the newest Pixar Animation Studios film will pass the $1 billion mark before the end of the weekend.

This week Inside Out 2 also passed the lifetime box office results globally. Inside Out earned $859 million globally during its original theatrical run. This took the sequel just 16 days to accomplish. It also is now the 19th most successful animated film of all time globally. On the domestic side, the film is now the 9th most successful animated by passing Frozen.

All of these results come ahead of the film’s release in Japan. They also come without it being released in Russia at all, which the original movie was. This week did see Inside Out 2 arrive in theaters in New Zealand where it had the 3rd biggest animated film opening of all time. It also dominated the box office there.

At its current pace, it is expected that this movie will be reaching the $1 billion mark on Sunday, or perhaps Monday at the latest. This means that it will do this in either 17 or 18 days. This also means that it will be the fastest animated film in history to reach this mark this quickly. Along with reaching the $1 billion milestone, it is expected that the film will again take the top spot at the box office this weekend.

Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann. It continues the story of Riley, who first appeared in Inside Out, and the emotions in her head. Now 13 years old, she is a teenager and facing a new and bigger world. With these new experiences also come new emotions. It features the vocal talents of Amy Pohler again returning to voice Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Liza Lapira as Disgust, Toy Hale as Fear, and Lewis Black as Anger. They are joined by Maya Hawke who voices Anxiety, Ayo Edebiri as Envy, Adèle Exarchopoulos as Ennui, Paul Walter Hauser as Embarrassment, and June Squibb as Nostalgia.
