Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been given the go ahead to continue to boldly go forward with more adventures of Captain Pike and his crew of the Enterprise. The series has been renewed for a fourth season. Co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers and executive producer Alex Kurtzman released a statement on Friday announcing the good news. In it they said, “On behalf of the cast and crew of ‘Strange New Worlds’ we are thrilled and grateful to continue our voyages together. We can’t wait for you to join us and the crew of the Enterprise on another season of exploration and adventure.”
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds tells the stories of Captain Pike and the crew of the Enterprise before Captain Kirk took the over the center seat for his five-year mission. While this is a different chapter for the Enterprise, the mission is still boldly exploring new worlds throughout the galaxy. The series stars Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The cast is rounded out with Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’An Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga.
The series is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners. Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet serve as executive producers in addition to Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and Aaron Baiers.
The first two seasons of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds currently can be streamed on Paramount+. Captain Pike and his version of the Enterprise first appeared on Star Trek: Discovery, which is currently in its fifth and final season. It also was announced this week that Star Trek: Lower Decks will be ending its voyages after its fifth season later this year.
