Tiendita

Patina Restaurant Group Reveals More About Tiendita by Chef Carlos Gaytán Ahead of Downtown Disney District Arrival

The Patina Restaurant Group has revealed more information about its new quick service restaurant, Tiendita by Chef Carlos Gaytán, which is coming to Downtown Disney District sometime this spring. When it opens, the restaurant will offer Michelin-starred Chef Gaytán’s heritage flavors on the go, with quick service Mexican street-food staples.

“Tiendita is the perfect accompaniment to the previously announced Paseo and Céntrico by Chef Carlos Gaytán. This final piece completes his vision for bringing his Mexican influence and vibrant flavors to Orange County and the Downtown Disney District,” said Frank Moreno, vice president of operations at Patina Restaurant Group. “Mexican culture embraces spending time with family and friends sharing a delicious meal together. Tiendita will offer guests an expedited dining choice, while the experience remains true to this ethos and authenticity.”

This new destination in Downtown Disney District will celebrate the reverence that Chef Gaytán has for his Mexican roots. It will be a reflection of his heritage and also a tribute to his passion for being an ambassador of Mexican cuisine. When guests experience Tiendita, they will get to enjoy elements of the elevated dishes that will be found at Paseo and Céntrico but in a family-friendly and convenient way that can be enjoyed by all.

The menu at Tiendita will take cueus from traditional Mexican flavors. It will feature plates that both honor the past while also giving a modern take on beloved favorites. Some of the highlights for its menu will include esquites, a beloved street food made with roasted corn, and tacos al pastor, which includes thin slices of flavorful pork, pineapple juices and is topped with roasted onions, cilantro and salsa. There will also be dessert offered at Tiendita. This includes creamy arroz con leche featuring aromatic flavors of cinnamon and vanilla and topped with raisins, an elevated twist on this nostalgic treat from Chef Gaytán’s childhood.

Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita will continue the legacy that began in Downtown Disney District with Tortilla Jo’s. This restaurant, known for its tableside guacamole and fresh margarita will be closing this spring after two decades at the Disneyland Resort. Tortilla Jo’s will be offering promotions on guest favorites and also specials for both Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day as a last hurrah of memories from this fan-favorite restaurant. Guests can book reservations through March 25th with the Disneyland App. Walk-ins will be available through March 31st when the restaurant closes permanently.
