Disney Marching Bands – Day Fifteen – 23 Days of Thanksgiving

As we continue through this adventure of 23 Days of Thanksgiving I have had today’s subject in my mind many times. I’m finally sitting down and writing this one. One of my favorite things at a Disney park is its marching band. Whether it is the Disneyland Band, the Main Street Philharmonic, or even the Tokyo DisneySea Maritime Band, I love them all. Part of this might be from my days in marching band when I was younger. However, I don’t think it is the only reason. I think it goes back further than this.

Way back in the day I can remember going to Disneyland for the very first and seeing the old Disneyland Band performing on Main Street, USA. I don’t know that if I had seen a marching band before. I do know that I have fond memories of this one. Years later when I could visit the parks more frequently, I would catch the Disneyland Band. Often I would catch their 12:00 PM concerts in Town Square. Sometimes Eeyore or other Disney characters would join the band during their concerts and add to the entertainment. These were treasured magical moments that completely took you out of the world of today and into the world of Disney.

As time went by, I began visiting other Disney theme parks. I quickly learned that there were other bands to be found and loved as well. Over at Walt Disney World, I love to spend a part of any visit catching the Main Street Philharmonic. Just recently at Tokyo DisneySea, I discovered the Tokyo DisneySea Maritime Band. They were very enjoyable as well. Oh, and hearing ANY of them play the Mickey Mouse March is simply one of the best things ever!

Marching bands have a distinct sound that just makes people happy. They have a vibrance to them and an energy that just electrifies the area and ups the magic of the Disney parks they are performing in. I’m so thankful that these Disney parks continue to invest in music and in marching bands. They really are a treasure and I’m glad that people (including me) can go and catch them.
